hexdump0815: yes, if their secure boot is well done, it’s impossible
<narmstrong>
But some guys managed to get usb boot working on the Amazon fire boxes, did you try ?

narmstrong: no did not try - do you have a link? worst case i can still uses with the balbes150 u-boot scripts and chainloading which works fine
<hexdump0815>
its just that that way one always has to protect quite a big region at the beginning of the emmc from changes so that the legacy u-boot still finds its dtb etc.
<hexdump0815>
with native mainline u-boot one can simply wipe the emmc and use it completely :)
<hexdump0815>
narmstrong: btw. is hdmi output and usb kbd input in u-boot supposed to work flawless on g12a, sm1 and gxm? on gxl i had to disable serial input to make it work reliable due to noise from serial otherwise
<hexdump0815>
maybe this is just a grounding issue, missing resistor or capacitor on the board issue - i have an amlogic and a rockchip box where simply soldering 15cm cable to the serial connector let the legacy u-boot stop early on
<narmstrong>
hexdump0815: can't answer, I haven't tested enough
<narmstrong>
I assume it's the same...
<hexdump0815>
if i connect the cable to a properly powered usb-serial adapter it works perfectly fine
sim has left #linux-amlogic [#linux-amlogic]
<hexdump0815>
and with mainline u-boot it was similar: it was mostly working without serial soldered but failing often with a serial cable connected but not connected to an usb-adapter, so just hanging in the air

hexdump0815: on which boards ?
<davor>
hi, is there any news regarding NPU support on mainline kernel versions? specifically, I'm interested in the A311D SoC
<hexdump0815>
narmstrong: tv boxes - so nothing proper :)
