<chewitt_> tuxd3v I've been running mainline kernel on C4 since it was launched
chewitt_ is now known as chewitt
<chewitt> along with mainline u-boot, and since a week or so, with mesa/panfrost instead of mali
<brads> I have been running a mostly standard mainline version for a number of months but with amlogic uboot only
ldevulder_ is now known as ldevulder

<chewitt> brads: any particular reason for using vendor u-boot?

<brads> brads: +
<brads> chewitt: only because it works with the gnome image im using, need to spend some time with mainline uboot
<chewitt> here's my not-so-secret stash of 2020.10 u-boot.bin.sd.bin files: https://chewitt.libreelec.tv/testing/9.80/u-boot/
<brads> Thanks :) I will take a look
<chewitt> I haven't gotten around to testing the C4 with them yet, but other devices seem to work and it's built from the same recipe
<brads> does it have hdmi / keyboard support as yet?
<chewitt> not sure
<brads> I will take a look
<chewitt> there are two hacks added .. one to disable 'console' output to HDMI (else this overwrites the LE boot splash) and a hack for mmc on C4
<chewitt> otherwise it's vanilla 2020.10
<chewitt> fip bits were updated semi-recently (after n2+ was launched) .. C4/N2/N2+ share the same fip sources
<brads> a side question does mainline uboot query the mac address from the SOC via efuse for C4/N2 or is it still assigning a random MAC?
<brads> random mac in uboot causes difficulties when trying to pxe boot
<narmstrong> repk: ping, I'm enabling PCIe on AXG, did you add/fix something else to make it work ?
<repk> narmstrong: not that I recall, are you enabling both PCIe ?
<narmstrong> repk: yes
<repk> narmstrong: I remember the binding documentation having a typo for the ranges on PCIe B let me check
<narmstrong> repk: ok, pcieA alone works, maybe something work on pcieB indeed
<narmstrong> *wrong
<repk> hm it was not in the binding documentation but it was on vendor tree. So if you have "ranges = <0x82000000 0 0xfa500000 0x0 0xfa500000 0 0x00300000>;" should be fine then
<narmstrong> repk: ok, can you share me the two pcie nodes ? to be sure...
<repk> sure
<repk> narmstrong: http://ix.io/2zYd
<repk> the reset-gpios polarity also changed
<narmstrong> repk: thx
<narmstrong> repk: I found the issue, the peicB reset gpio on S400 is open drain...
<repk> yes that was like so in vendor tree
<narmstrong> now I have USB OTG + MIPI-DSI + 2xPCIe (NVMe + USB3) + GE2D on S400, pretty cool
<narmstrong> I also tried the NAND driver and it was working, but NAND is a pain to flash...
<narmstrong> repk: thx for your help
<repk> narmstrong: that is awesome news, is there a mainstream AXG based SBC sold currently ?
<narmstrong> repk: afaik no
<repk> narmstrong: that's too bad. It seems amlogic market is very oriented on androidtv box. AXG SBC could have been nice as NAS material
<narmstrong> repk: completely

<chewitt> brads IIRC there was something done for 2020.07 or 2020.10 that solves the random MAC
<chewitt> Yup, commit 6de936b011fb02d1019a69aea0184cee4a578f59 from June
<chewitt> Add a proper Odroid-N2 board support to handle the Ethernet MAC address stored in the in-SoC eFuses.
<narmstrong> brads: it’s progressively fixed, for sure on odroid boards

<chewitt> narmstrong is that 24Mhz hack still required for C4?
<narmstrong> chewitt: perhaps
<narmstrong> I haven’t got time to understand this issue yet
<brads> chewitt: Thanks ill check out your prebuilts

<tuxd3v> narmstrong, what is the 's400' ?
<narmstrong> tuxd3v: a113d audio oriented board
<tuxd3v> chewitt, brads, narmstrong, many thanks, I am considering to add this board to my portfolio :)
<narmstrong> tuxd3v: it’s a dev
<tuxd3v> narmstrong, the a311d seems to be a nice Soc
<narmstrong> tuxd3v: s400 is a dev board for amlogic partners, it costs 400$, I think you mismatch with a311d which is a very different soc
zkrx has quit [Quit: I'm done]
<narmstrong> tuxd3v: indeed a311d is great and the Khadas VIM3 using it is very interesting
zkrx has joined #linux-amlogic
<tuxd3v> narmstrong, yes i mismatched indeed
<tuxd3v> one thing , does we to create uboot mainline need that fip thing?
<tuxd3v> or it is only nedded to sign a bootloader..
