<panioluka[m]> Hey
<panioluka[m]> i have problem on x96 max +
<panioluka[m]> i got mostly evrything up
<panioluka[m]> but i cant get wifi
<panioluka[m]> chip is rtl8822cs
<panioluka[m]> corelec workes with it
<panioluka[m]> but it needs aml_wifi driver

<xdarklight> there's no mainline driver for the RTL8822CS unfortunately
<panioluka[m]> <xdarklight "there's no mainline driver for t"> there is one used for corelec https://github.com/CoreELEC/RTL8822CS-aml
<xdarklight> panioluka[m]: I am not sure which kernel versions this driver is compatible with. if it is compatible with newer kernels then it's not part of the mainline kernel itself (and instead it's some out-of-tree project where compatibility with new kernel versions can be an issue)
<panioluka[m]> <xdarklight "panioluka: I am not sure which k"> 4.9
<xdarklight> I'm not sure I understand correctly: you are saying that this driver works with kernel versions greater than 4.9. so which kernel version are you running then and which problems do you see with the RTL8822CS-aml driver? (please note that we can help with Amlogic related issue in this channel - I'm not sure who can help with this Realtek wifi driver though)

<panioluka[m]> <xdarklight "I'm not sure I understand correc"> no i am currently trying to get it on newer kernel
<panioluka[m]> it workes on 4.9
<panioluka[m]> but it needs amlwifi driver
<panioluka[m]> that is very pure driver
<buzzmarshall> as far as i am aware CE supports only old Amlogic bsp kernels... in this case 4.9 thats why it works under CE but trying to take their driver and simply put it into newer kernels without patching it probably is not working
<panioluka[m]> <buzzmarshall "as far as i am aware CE supports"> indeed it wount
<buzzmarshall> to do so means the newer kernel needs to be patched (whichever version your trying to move up to)
<panioluka[m]> but still i am trying to get it working
<panioluka[m]> <buzzmarshall "to do so means the newer kernel "> 5.7
<buzzmarshall> personally as i don't own a x96x i can't say exactly what patches are involved but do no others that have that box running on 5.7 but i don't think any of them made the patches public yet
<panioluka[m]> <buzzmarshall "personally as i don't own a x96x"> 5.7 workes perfect on box
<buzzmarshall> if your trying to move up maybe check chewitts github and see if he has anything as i no he's usually trying to keep up with current kernel stuff
<buzzmarshall> I haven't bothered with CE builds for along time now as its committed to just keeping stuff running on bsp supported kernels and its just to much of a pain trying to straddle their build while trying to bring just peices of it up into more mainstream kernels
<panioluka[m]> <buzzmarshall "if your trying to move up maybe "> problem is not kernel
<panioluka[m]> kernel boots
<xdarklight> panioluka[m]: I just remembered that chewitt sent me this link some time ago which seems to have some fixed for "newer" kernels: https://github.com/tantra35/RTL8822CS-aml - disclaimer: I haven't tried this myself and I'm not sure if chewitt has
<panioluka[m]> thanks
<buzzmarshall> their build system has to many small changes from the LE build and between trying to compensate for that while trying to move peices up
<buzzmarshall> lol
<panioluka[m]> <xdarklight "panioluka: I just remembered tha"> before this i need aml wifi in kernl
<buzzmarshall> i now chewy's trying to keep things updated and for awhile i was trying to move things back and forth between LE's build system and CE/AE but had to many compling issues i just quit trying

<narmstrong> panioluka[m]: you will go faster by finding an original RTL82CS driver from Realtek fixed for 5.8 than trying to make these « aml » versions working
<narmstrong> panioluka[m]: this « aml_wifi » isn’t needed on 5.8, we use the mmc_pwrseq instead for sdio

<johnhamming> narmstrong : May I try the original RTL82CS driver from Realtek ?
<narmstrong> johnhamming: yes, there is no reason it does work
<narmstrong> Doesn’t work*
<johnhamming> Great :) Where can I download this driver please ?
