MoeIcenowy: I think L2 cache is handled by hardware. there's no code I can find in the (H5, at least) BROM that touches any CPUCFG registers
<smaeul>
and bit 4 of C_CTRL_REG0, "0: L2 cache is reset by hardware", is the default

there is one set of mysterious registers that are used, SUN50I_R_CPUCFG_BASE+0x0280 through SUN50I_R_CPUCFG_BASE+0x0288, but AFAICT they're only accessed on the eMMC boot path
<smaeul>
if anyone has any idea what those are used for, I'd love to know
<MoeIcenowy>
yes by reading A7 TRM I think for A7 the internal L2 cache is automatically managed
<MoeIcenowy>
when L1 I/D caches are both enabled L2 is enabled

<wens>
there is no way to disable L2 cache
<wens>
there are only controls to reset it, which you should never do while the cores are active
<wens>
the A15 has an additional "disable prefetch" switch

mripard: wens: I found an issue with sunxi-ng clock driver for all clocks, which uses frac mode
<jernej>
ccu_frac_helper_enable is never called
<jernej>
but if I add this function, it still isn't enough, since M factor must be cleared to 0
<jernej>
all user manuals require this, except the one for A31
<jernej>
I also tested this with my H3 HDMI driver and clock doens't work if M is not 0
<jernej>
fortunatelly, frac mode is supported only with NM and MULT clock (albeit MULT seems to be unused)
<jernej>
so I was considering to clear M factor from ccu_nm_set_rate() function before frac mode is enabled
<jernej>
what do you think? would be such patch acceptable?
marble_visions has left #linux-sunxi [#linux-sunxi]
<jernej>
tecnically, there is another issue - ccu_frac_helper_set_rate() doesn't wait for lock

<technix>
I cannot get U-Boot SPL to boot off USB. Each and every time I try to "sunxi-fel spl u-boot-sunxi-with-spl.bin" I get U-Boot SPL cannot find boot device error. Putting the very same U-Boot into a microSD card I do get U-Boot to load, and it can see the eMMC card without any problems. Now the question: what should I modify to get U-Boot to accept FEL booting?
<technix>
Hello?
<pmpp>
technix: which board ?
<technix>
OrangePi WIn Plus
<technix>
I have upgraded the onboard SPI flasg to a W25Q128FV, and added an eMMC
<pmpp>
the A64 one ?
<technix>
Not making use of the SPI for now
<technix>
Yes.
<technix>
I need to get things into the eMMC
<technix>
I don’t have too many microSD cards to spare (maintaining a cluster of 12 Raspberry Pi’s eats microSD cards) so the eMMC footprint is a godsend.
<technix>
On some other boards I have played with there is a USB Mass Storage mode in U-Boot, that allows the computer to see the microSD card or eMMC as a USB mass storage device and load the system image that way. On my A64 board all I see is U-Boot complaining that the USB controller is not initialized. How to fix that and get UMS to work?

Hello?

well i don't have a64 support in my fel boot tree, seems i need some wip branch
