wens: right. on A20 you control the backend output but on A31 you control the tcon input.

Net147: I'm curious, what happens if you make both backends output to the same tcon?
<MoeIcenowy>
wens: there's a backend-tcon mux on A20?
<MoeIcenowy>
it's interesting as such a mux exists for DE2
<wens>
MoeIcenowy: see yesterday's log
<wens>
there's also one on the A31
<MoeIcenowy>
I only seen TCON-HDMI mux
<MoeIcenowy>
not backend-TCON mux
<wens>
for the A31, it's in the TCON's ch0/ch1 ctl register
<wens>
for the A20, it's undocumented, but in the backend's DEBE_MODCTL_REG register
<chrisf_>
Does u-boot support interrupts on an H5? I can only find interrupts_64.c and that's full of do nothings.
<wens>
chrisf_: u-boot basically does not do interrupts
<Net147>
wens: should I just leave for mripard to add the missing "Fixes:" to the commit message?
luoyi_ has joined #linux-sunxi
<wens>
Net147: you could :)
<chrisf_>
wens: that's what I thought. Shame.
<chrisf_>
Does anyone know where the interrupt vectors are in an H5? There's a table in the user manual (4.12.1 Interrupt Source) with what look like offsets but I can't find what the base is.
<Net147>
wens: you get random animated colored junk on the screen that has the wrong mux if you make both backends output to the same tcon
<Net147>
wens: at least when you have both displays enabled at the same time
<Net147>
wens: I find the LCD timing doesn't cope very well if both display engines are on pll-video0 when configured for LCD+HDMI
<Net147>
wens: better to have second display engine on pll-video1 but it doesn't do that automatically
<wens>
we could consider having CLK_SET_RATE_NO_REPARENT set for the TCON clocks, and forcing their parents
<Net147>
wens: indeed, that is what I am doing now
<wens>
as for LCD timing tolerances, I sent a patch last year, which resulted in some discussion but no conclusion
<wens>
Net147: colored junk is expected, since you mux the data away, the TCON is basically getting static from its input port
<wens>
Net147: but what about the tcon that both backends output to? any artifacts?
<Net147>
wens: not that I can see
<wens>
like on the R40, the manual actually specifies the priority for each port
<wens>
so if you mux both backends/mixers to the same tcon, one of them takes precedence
<wens>
I guess that won't be easy to test though
<Net147>
wens: I moved tcon1-ch1-sclk2, tcon1-ch0-sclk, hdmi, de-fe1, de-be1 to pll-video1. hdmi-tmds to pll-video1-2x.
<Net147>
wens: no idea what hdmi1 is used for. that is still parented to pll-video0.
<wens>
best not to fix hdmi clocks to a single parent
<Net147>
wens: was just for testing, will try making it unfixed later
<MoeIcenowy>
wens: multiple pipeline clock seems to be a problem
<Net147>
wens: I did find an error in the CCU hdmi mux though in the process =)
<MoeIcenowy>
when I want to do it on A64
<MoeIcenowy>
(Pinebook
<MoeIcenowy>
TCON0 and TCON1 are both trying to use pll-video0
<MoeIcenowy>
and the second enabled TCON will change the image displayed by the first by changing pll-video0
<Net147>
some combinations of resolutions work well, others don't
<wens>
so we might have to drop the automatic reparenting, and have it look at which engine the hdmi block is tied to, and have it do reparenting itself
<wens>
not sure that is easy to work out with dw-hdmi though
<Net147>
Mali doesn't work properly with multiple displays through the fbdev emulation. may end up requiring GBM blob instead of fbdev blob.
