<vagrantc>
i've been using the pinebook regularly with good results
<vagrantc>
got pinebook added to u-boot-sunxi in debian, and have been working on packaging arm-trusted-firmware from upstream git, which is working as well or better than the old atf-allwinner fork
<vagrantc>
the battery support is the one thing i'd really hate to miss for the next debian release, but i've been running the patches on 4.19
<vagrantc>
also working on adding support to guix, fwiw :)
<wens>
anarsoul: well, the point is that they are marked always-on for pinebook and sopine :)
<anarsoul>
wens: yeah. And for my pine64 I have a patch to enable wifi
<anarsoul>
vagrantc: well, it takes time to clean up patches to the state that satisfies maintainers
<vagrantc>
it suspends and wakes from suspend successfully ... although the power draw doesn't seem to change at all hardly
<anarsoul>
and I guess all devs are doing it in their spare time
<anarsoul>
vagrantc: because it's not real suspend
<vagrantc>
anarsoul: yeah, i know. just always checking in to make sure i haven't missed it :)
<anarsoul>
also it doesn't disable display power
<wens>
is emmc really using eldo1 though? the schematics show NC between vcc-pc and eldo1, and 0R between vcc-pc and dcdc1
<vagrantc>
ah, the display is probably well over half the power...
<wens>
anarsoul: ah, nevermind
<anarsoul>
wens: I think it should, otherwise hs200 wouldn't work
<anarsoul>
IIRC it requires 1.8v
<wens>
the battery patches seem to have stalled on mfd :/

a33 with axp223 keeps usb host port powered on after shutdown, can i do something about it on a kernel level without poking sysfs every time system shuts down?

<plaes>
driver needs to be fixed so it tears down the regulator

also is there a way to get battery gauge for axp223?
<anonus>
only option is to poke i2c or is there other options?
<anonus>
*option
<plaes>
you need to chek whether this driver is implemented, if it is then you just need to add device-specific device tree bits

<anonus>
there are some stuff for axp22x, no stuff called "battery gauge", but can it just be under "power supply"?
clemens3 has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<plaes>
not really sure, AXP20X also has some AXP22X functionality
<plaes>
but not sure whether it also has enabled battery power features
<plaes>
although, axp20x_battery.c says "MODULE_DESCRIPTION("Battery power supply driver for AXP20X and AXP22X PMICs");
<plaes>
Kconfig file needs to be updated
<anonus>
but it should appear as battery device under /sys/class/power_supply/, shouldn't it?
<plaes>
do you have device tree bits enabled?
<anonus>
nope
<plaes>
well :)
<anonus>
well, it has axp223 section for power regulation, should i add anything else?
<wens>
the battery driver is called "axp20x_battery"
<wens>
and the device node label is battery_power_supply
<plaes>
but it doesn't seem to have axp223 support. :S
<anonus>
or does it...
<wens>
should be covered by axp221
<plaes>
oh, ok
<wens>
we are lazy, not adding every compatible string for every model
<anonus>
actually does it stop me from using battery at all?
<anonus>
&battery_power_supply { status = "okay"; } should do it?
<anonus>
it present already in axp22x.dtsi which is included
<plaes>
hmm
<anonus>
it is present but "status=disabled"
<plaes>
ah.. yes you need status = "okay";
<anonus>
/sys/class/power_supply/axp20x-battery/
<anonus>
present
<anonus>
yey

plaes: ok, going to try with olimex' u-boot and then try again with mainline u-boot and a delay of 4
<Wizzup>
plaes: did you have issues only in 100mbit mode?
<plaes>
yes
<Wizzup>
ok
<anonus>
so what is the right way to shut down usb instead of suspending every device before shutdown? Is there control over axp223 regulators exposed in sysfs?
<anonus>
i mean right way without changing kernel code

plaes: just took u-boot from olimex on github, branch olimex, used lime2 defconfig, and I still get no ethernet on rev K
<Wizzup>
tried several devices
<Wizzup>
I'm surprised it does work for you
* Wizzup
goes to check config
<Wizzup>
plaes: ok, enabling the micrel phys and setting the delay to 4 helped
<Wizzup>
now I'll see if it also works with delay set to default value... (since olimex code should set it)
<Wizzup>
delay to 4 is definitely required
<Wizzup>
plaes: hrm, ok, I think it works for me in mainline now too.

so you needed to enable micrel phy for 100mbit?
selfbg has joined #linux-sunxi
<Wizzup>
plaes: no, will test that next. I needed to set delay, and I also enabled mikrel phys in config, now gbit works, will test 100mbit next
<Wizzup>
I first tried to see if this config worked on all previous boards I had - and it did, although this u-boot still has my other phy net patches (forward ported patch from olimex)
<Wizzup>
(which is why it works with the delay globally set to 4, I'm assuming it sets it to 0 and 2 for other boards)

OK, Mark says it should be fine - dummy regulator will be used instead
