<jernej> megi: hexdump0815: That's quiet old e-mail. Reason for that message is missing 32 kHz crystal.
lurchi_ has joined #linux-sunxi
<jernej> Implemented solution is to add or remove clock property with phandle to 32k clock (crystal) to RTC node
<jernej> hexdump0815: If crystal is really missing (for example, Tanix TX6 doesn't have it), you can't do much about RTC precision. Although H6 RTC supports some kind of calibration, it's not implemented and best bet would be to use NTP

<hexdump0815> megi: jernej: once more regarding the rtc - i just booted my last kernel v5.6.13 and there i do not get any error messages and also do not see any time drift ... strange
florian_kc is now known as florian
<hexdump0815> jernej: the ac200 eth does only seem to work when warm booted from an old kernel (v5.6.13 too) where it worked - then i get those "ac200-ephy ac200-ephy: Unable to find calibration data!" messages - when i cold boot i get those messages and eth is not working - does not even recognize link up/down
<hexdump0815> jernej: does the ac200 eth work for you with 5.9?

<Pinchiukas> I don't suppose my random USB cable that has Type A connectors on both ends is OTG? I got it with a HDD enclosure.

<Ashleee> I had similar problems with 5.8, jernej ... I think. I rolled back to 5.6 I have here working :)
<Ashleee> no idea about 5.7, do not remember
<Ashleee> 5.7 is fine
JohnDoe_71Rus has quit [Quit: KVIrc 5.0.0 Aria http://www.kvirc.net/]
<jernej> with what? AC200? It works for me on 5.
<jernej> *5.8
<willmore> Pinchiukas, it's hard to tell what parts of a standard a standards violating cable like that chose to violate.

<mirko> jernej: somewhen something happened to the HDMI/surround setup . audio is output as PCM 3.1 for me (at least my AVR/AMP says) and the right surround channel appears to be mapped to LFE
<mirko> front left / right is fine, which i remember was once reversed and recently broken
<mirko> talking about running linux 5.9 upstream with patches from current libreelec
<jernej> Interesting, but I don't have surround system to test this...
<mirko> jernej: ah, i remember.. i think we should get you such a setup once :) - interested?

<hramrach> Pinchiukas: these kables tend to be plain 1:1 cables, you don't get OTG pin on full size A connector - you can measure with a multimeter, too. And if you have OTG on A port then you have to swith it to host or device with some kernel setting because you do not have the OTG pin
<jernej> mirko: yeah, movies would be more fun with surround but neighbours would have something to say then :)
<mirko> jernej: surround is only satellites on ear level, almost adding nothing to what's already there by large front speakers or even an LFE
<mirko> like, adding to the experience, but not to the general noise level

<hexdump0815> jernej: then the ac200 might really need some adjustment as you mentioned - tried it on another h6 box and its exactly the same
<jernej> I'll take a look tomorrow
<jernej> last time I only had to adjust DT patch a bit
<hexdump0815> jernej: thanks a lot
<jernej> hexdump0815: which DT you're using?
<hexdump0815> jernej: https://github.com/hexdump0815/linux-mainline-and-mali-allwinner-h3-h6-kernel/blob/master/misc.ah6/dtb/sun50i-h6-eachlink-h6mini.dts ... i already had a look but did not find anything which looked obviously wrong or seems to have changed since v5.6, but of course i might have overlooked something
<jernej> ddc-supply = <&reg_ddc>; is old mechanism and not used anymore
<hexdump0815> yes i noticed that and removing it brought hdmi back to life ... the rest of the tree is basically https://github.com/megous/linux/tree/orange-pi-5.9 with your ac200 eth patches added
<jernej> problem with ac200 patches is that patching process sometimes miss correct place to insert change
<jernej> at least that happened last time
<hexdump0815> jernej: and in case you have your h6 box then running v5.9 too it would be interesting if you see strange rtc behaviour too - i double checked on two boxes which seem to not have a 32khz crystal and both seem to work quite well with 5.6 but give the mentioned rtc clock messages with v5.9 - would be interesting to see if you see them too on your box
bauen1 has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<mirko> hexdump0815: do you have a surround setup by any chance? :)
<hexdump0815> no - two channels of audio is the max i have :)
<mirko> hm, well, better than one i guess.. ;)
<hexdump0815> most important is what comes out of them ;)
<jernej> there were no issues with RTC on 5.8, I don't see any reason why wouldn't be fine on 5.9 too
<jernej> as discussed before, just make sure that RTC node doesn't have clock property set
<hexdump0815> so to /delete-prop/ them in the board dts then?
sunshavi has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<mps> hmm, iirc I have kernel ops on A20 related to RTC
<mps> have seen*
<jernej> hexdump0815: nope, those should stay
<jernej> clocks property is already removed, as it should be (it should only be added in board specific DT)
<jernej> it's more likely that you used old dtb file with new kernel
<hexdump0815> ok - thx i'll just review my dts - could be that i missed some update

<mirko> not sure what i screwed up now, but playing a 4k video which worked before now throws the following into my kodi.log:
<mirko> 2020-10-17 00:22:08.808 T:4226 ERROR <general>: CDVDVideoCodecDRMPRIME::GetPicture - videoBuffer:nullptr format:yuv420p10le
<mirko> oh, but other 4k video files seem to work fine, so somehow specific.. still think that file worked once
