<keesj> Whe I read risc-v in combo with fpga I always wonder if the risc-v is hard ip or not
<keesj> so.. here " complete hardened quad core 64-bit RISC-V processor " is probably still a soft core?
<daveshah> This time its pretty clearly hard IP
<daveshah> If nothing else a quad core RV64GC is unlikely to fit in a 25k FPGA
<keesj> I see and the document abobe is more clear on that topic https://www.cnx-software.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/12/PolarFire-SoC-FPGA-Block-Diagram.png there is even a 5th core RISC-V Monitor core

<daveshah> It's just a CrossLink NX with the MIPI stuff not bonded

<mithro> daveshah / keesj: I'm pretty sure it is a SiFive based core complex in the PolarFire board
<mithro> Given Microsemi's history with pricing -- I can't see it being cheap
<daveshah> The board might be cheap-ish but the chips definitely won't be
<daveshah> Microsemi is pretty close to "if you have to ask you can't afford it" pricing strategy
<daveshah> and their usual customer base don't need to ask...
<sorear> it's very definitely sifive-based, they've said as much
<somlo> _florent_: with litesdcard a9f61ef and litex e8f84c96 I can't boot in sd-mode (ignore if it's still a work in progress :)

<_florent_> somlo: it's indeed still a work in progress, i'll continue tomorrow, but upstream litex/litesdcard should be working
<somlo> _florent_: with 4094a6ec (litex) and 7e23147 (litesdcard), using rocket and nexys4ddr, it hangs at "booting from sdcard in sd-mode" (or somesuch, I don't have it in front of me right now)
<somlo> rebuilt it in spi-mode, which is why I can't give you the exact quote :) But it hangs there, won't fall through to netbooting, or to the LiteX bios prompt
