I'm toying with the idea of porting an xmpp server. If we configure it to use BOSH we can use regular api links to connect.

Even forgoing federation (which is obviously harder), it would be neat to have a chat app that you could easily connect to with a separate client.

There are a bunch of apps that use offer iframes; I think this is actually one of the corners of sandstorm integration that's relatively well trodden.
