So i think i have a path forward for a ~4.5 GHz active diff probe

LMH6401, the same DC to 4.5 GHz variable gain amplifier I use in the BLONDEL/DUDDELL/ZENNECK frontend

i know it works decently well DC coupled, it runs on +/- 2.5V, has a spi programmable gain

has a decently wide input common mode range, as well as output common mode adjustment so i can add a DAC there to tweak bias and zero the probe

I can then explore adding an ADL5580 in parallel to increase the bandwidth but i want to get a working DC to "as high as i can go " probe first
