<stellar-slack> <jojo> Does anyone have any contacts at Kraken? I tried setting up a deposit for my Lumens, but it seems they haven't upgraded yet.
<stellar-slack> <dzham> I think they we’re doing some work on it before… check with @timon
<stellar-slack> <dzham> Aw, hell… They’ve employed Andreas Brekken? WTF?
<stellar-slack> <jojo> Hmm, didn't JustCoin have a big STR hack?
<stellar-slack> <dzham> Yes, and then they just folded the company, while still owing customer funds
<stellar-slack> <dzham> @jesse, there goes my respect for you
<stellar-slack> <dzham> I’d at least thought that guy would be persona non grata in the crypto community for doing that kind of shit
<stellar-slack> <dzham> Oh, they hired Klaus Lund too, the justcoin CEO
<stellar-slack> <dzham> FU kraken
<stellar-slack> <dzham> People like that should be publicly humiliated, not given new jobs
<stellar-slack> <jojo> I can't comment on that, but I do have to say that I've been having trouble finding a marketplace that supports both Stellar and Bitcoin, and I can't use Kraken because of my state.
<stellar-slack> <sacarlson> what state is that jojo?
<stellar-slack> <jojo> Michigan.
<stellar-slack> <sacarlson> I thought I saw a site yestarday that I didn't look to close at
<stellar-slack> <donovan> @dzham I think it would be partially true to say that abrekken was shafted by a poorly documented protocol...
<stellar-slack> <jojo> ^
<stellar-slack> <dzham> He was one of the few people who didn’t understand it
<stellar-slack> <dzham> Maybe he just got unlucky
<stellar-slack> <dzham> But their acting after the hack was absolutely horrible
<stellar-slack> <donovan> DeliveredAmount vs SendAmount ...
<stellar-slack> <jojo> I was watching The Rise and Rise of Bitcoin last night, and I truly felt sorry for Mark Karpelès. Everyone makes him out to be a mobster criminal stealing all the Bitcoins... but frankly he was no genius using PHP to run an exchange like that.
<stellar-slack> <dzham> If you’re dealing with other peoples money maybe you should read the docs a bit more diligently
<stellar-slack> <donovan> There have been much worse atrocities on “other” networks… Japan definitely seems to be the hotspot of miscreancy.
<stellar-slack> <jojo> @dzham If you're dealing with people's money you should hire someone who actually knows what they're doing.
<stellar-slack> <donovan> Lol, I’d like to meet that person :)
<stellar-slack> <jojo> Nobody can be expected to be a professional at everything. *shrugs*
<stellar-slack> <dzham> That’s my point. Andreas didn’t know wtf he was doing. And started blaming everyone else.
<stellar-slack> <jojo> Reasons like that are why I'm happy the majority of currency is still in control by the Stellar company so all the idiots won't go out and dump it, and hackers can't steal ALL of it.
<stellar-slack> <donovan> But who does know what they are doing? Only Bitstamp and, until recently Snapswap, have been able to use Ripple properly. And that can be explained by their ties with the company itself. RippleTradeJapan is the worst case of all, and is rarely dicussed publicly.
<stellar-slack> <dzham> Not even in Japan?
<stellar-slack> <donovan> *publicly in English
<stellar-slack> <dzham> They’re a bit siloed off from the rest of the world, I’d imagine
<stellar-slack> <dzham> Same with the Chinese
<stellar-slack> <sacarlson> as far as exchange between bitcoin and XLM I guess you could do an over the counter exchange and even a safe exchange with contracts as both system employ internal escrow
<stellar-slack> <jojo> This is my opinion, but does anyone else see a big gap in the web-services in the crypto space? Some of the websites even look web 1.0.
<stellar-slack> <sacarlson> but not sure how many public people hold XLM as I see only little over 1000 accounts on stellar-core
<stellar-slack> <dzham> @jojo: I haven’t thought much about it.. any specific examples? I though everyone just used bootstrap, i.e. instant web 2.0 :)
<stellar-slack> <sacarlson> my example ha ha all direct html
<stellar-slack> <sacarlson> I'll have to learn your bootstrap someday
<stellar-slack> <jojo> Yeah give me a minute and I'll go find the exchanges.
<stellar-slack> <dzham> Bootstrap is just a CSS framework (with some optional javascript), which is why you kind of get the same look if you don’t spend some time customizing it.
<stellar-slack> <jojo> https://btc-e.com/
<stellar-slack> <jojo> BTC-E for example looks like a web-service I would expect in maybe 2006.
<stellar-slack> <sacarlson> https://poloniex.com/exchange#btc_str this is the site I started looking at what do you guys think of this one?
<stellar-slack> <dzham> @jojo oh, yeah, that’s kind of busy. too much happening

<stellar-slack> <donovan> btc-e makes me laugh because they only show graphs for the last 24 hours. Pump and dumps don’t observe long term trends :)
<stellar-slack> <sacarlson> they both look visualy ok to me
<stellar-slack> <sacarlson> oh that's not good
<stellar-slack> <sacarlson> do we know anyone with a poloniex account?
<stellar-slack> <dzham> poloniex is OK, but I just wish they’d add proper market orders
<stellar-slack> <dzham> I use them
<stellar-slack> <dzham> Anyways.. With proper gateways, and a trading wallet, by luck we don’t have to use exchanges anymore

<stellar-slack> <donovan> I’m quite happy with a decent API and a tmux session :)
<stellar-slack> <jojo> For some reason Slack crashed my browser so I'm on my phone now.
<stellar-slack> <jojo> I'm not much for looks, but a shoddy looking front-end probably means the back-end isn't too hot.
<stellar-slack> <dzham> It’s a bit of a broken window, right
<stellar-slack> <dzham> If they’ve put some though into the layout on the front-end side, or if things have just been piled on top
<stellar-slack> <jojo> That's a really good analogy.
<stellar-slack> <jojo> Especially because I live by Detroit. :P
<stellar-slack> <donovan> A lot of it depends where you want to do all the work. Ripple streams every single transaction for every single order book to every single websocket client and does the filtering and updates there. Bitstamp only has one order book and delegates the work to a third party websocket push service. BTC-e has many orderbooks and only pushes the offers and trades for the order book you are looking at via custom backend
<stellar-slack> <donovan> I know which of the above has the most active users :)
<stellar-slack> <jojo> Bitstamp?
<stellar-slack> <donovan> BTC-e :)
<stellar-slack> <thanh> +1, btc-e.
<stellar-slack> <jojo> Who has a larger trading volume?
<stellar-slack> <donovan> Google has all the answers :) Anyway goodnight!
<stellar-slack> <dzham> @donovan: re Ripple, aren’t you just subscribing to a certain order book?
<stellar-slack> <dzham> oh, goodnight!
<stellar-slack> <jojo> Good night.
<stellar-slack> <donovan> @dzham: orderbook subsciptions have been broken for years, especially if you want to calculate offer fundings. Which you do :) I reconstruct the entirety of all order books in memory from the transaction stream appended in order to the full ledger data… It’s horrible, but necessary, if you want to trade accurately with other Ripple accounts. Anyway, very late. Goodnight
<stellar-slack> <jed> Jojo: poloniex lets you trade XLM for BTC

<stellar-slack> <veerasarma> hi
<stellar-slack> <veerasarma> i have doubt an the stellar API
<stellar-slack> <veerasarma> anyone explain how the payment transfer on the stellar API horizon testnet network
<stellar-slack> <veerasarma> Awaiting your response
<stellar-slack> <veerasarma> i can't understand the API
<stellar-slack> <sacarlson> from horizon most people use js-stellar-sdk libs
<stellar-slack> <veerasarma> yeah i knew that i am using this library
<stellar-slack> <veerasarma> i need how the payment will made on this process
<stellar-slack> <veerasarma> how can i run it
<stellar-slack> <veerasarma> i gives the confusion to me
<stellar-slack> <veerasarma> *it gives confusion to me
<stellar-slack> <sacarlson> there are many better examples, I just use the prepackaged version https://github.com/stellar/bower-js-stellar-sdk
<stellar-slack> <veerasarma> i thing it is very useful to me i will check it
<stellar-slack> <sacarlson> another better example code https://github.com/TbLtzk/Centaurus
