<stellar-slack>
<jojo> When upgrading from STR to LMN, I believe it should be more apparent that if you do not save your keys you will lose access to your account. I nearly closed out of the tab.
<stellar-slack>
<bartek> @jojo you can login again to see your secret key
<stellar-slack>
<jojo> " Access your account using your public and secret keys. Original username and password no longer work."
<stellar-slack>
<jojo> Why am I still allowed to login to my account to retrieve my private key?
<stellar-slack>
<bartek> http://launch.stellar.org|launch.stellar.org will eventually go offline. however, it's not specified when exactly.
<stellar-slack>
<jojo> Alright. After that there won't be any record of our private keys in the database?
<stellar-slack>
<jed> there is no record of your private key now really. What is stored is an encrypted blob that can be decrypted with your username and password
<stellar-slack>
<jojo> So would that make federation depreciated now?
<stellar-slack>
<jed> federation is still a thing but we will probably stop federating for people soon. We hope other companies start using federation for their users. I just updated the federation spec today actually
<stellar-slack>
<jojo> Hmm, I've been away for about half a year, but I really like the direction Stellar is continuing to go in. Good job guys.
<stellar-slack>
<jed> cool thanks. Yeah all the code and API is *a lot* better now.
<stellar-slack>
<ant> couple of questions about setting up stellar-core
<stellar-slack>
<ant> stellar-cre --newdb creates a sqlite3 db... can one select postgres?
<stellar-slack>
<sacarlson> yes the option is set in the config file
<stellar-slack>
<ant> couple more questions - UNSAFE_QUORUM=false - if I run an exchange should I leave this as is? Also any other conf parameters I need to be concerned about?
<stellar-slack>
<jed> yeah you should leave that to false
<stellar-slack>
<jed> if you are going to run your own horizon then you need to set CATCHUP_COMPLETE =true
<stellar-slack>
<ant> ok
<stellar-slack>
<jed> but you can also use our horizon for now and set up your own stellar-core/horizon after you get your exchange working
