<cr1901_modern> https://twitter.com/TexElecUSA/status/1279954810733723658 This is a certain-width-Bit Guy's machine, right?
<cr1901_modern> Where he's gonna buy the reset of the YM2151s?
<natarii> yeah, it is his
<kode54> mr assault rifle in the subway?
<cr1901_modern> ._. uhh...
<cr1901_modern> are you serious ._.?
<natarii> does it even have a 2151 anymore? where is the socket?
<cr1901_modern> Dunno, I was just being grumpy
<natarii> i guess it could be the one by the power connector? weird placement though considering the output is on the back...
<kode54> damn
<kode54> I can't find it on google, it must be specific to telegram
<kode54> found it
<cr1901_modern> But I know that was A Thing that was discussed... they want to do a run that quite possibly exceeds the number of YM2151s still existing (a I think it's the high single-thousands?)
<cr1901_modern> Oh God ._.
<natarii> some chinese supplier promised them 10k pcs or whatever, and it seemed like they were just taking their word for it
<cr1901_modern> Gonna go ahead and guess he only supports a certain subset of people exercising their second amendment rights and leave it at that :)
<natarii> and yeah, the gun stuff is kind of hilarious/sad
<kode54> also, in that frame
<kode54> that does appear to be a really ancient Macbook
<kode54> those didn't age well
<kode54> I have one of those, my mom's old laptop
<kode54> she never really used it
<kode54> if I upgrade the RAM, it could max at 6GB
<kode54> that's 1x 2GB 1x 4GB
<kode54> it currently has 2x 512MB
<kode54> and it has a relatively untouched 10.6 install onboard
<kode54> which means it still has the original Rosetta
<natarii> i have a soft spot for the polycarbonate ones
<kode54> I like the old machine, but it's kind of dated, and I can't think of any legacy software I'd want to run on it
<kode54> I did manage to find a version of Coconut Battery old enough to run on it
<natarii> yeah, they're definitely in that period where they're too new to be interesting, but too old to be super useful
<kode54> the battery has been cycled less than a dozen times
<andlabs> ah yes the assault rifle pic
<andlabs> I still love how that's the least convenient way to carry a gun period
<kode54> ah yes
<kode54> the battery is dead
<kode54> won't even hold a charge now
<kode54> coconutBattery says it's only ever been cycled 9 times
<cr1901_modern> https://twitter.com/luciematics/status/1277441957061693441 I gotta prepare a list first (and were there any handheld systems w/ FM synth besides Nomad?), but I think I should do this challenge
<andlabs> which one says handheld?
<andlabs> oh day 27
<andlabs> yeah I don't htink the Nomad would count
<andlabs> I was about to say "a portable sequencer" but
<cr1901_modern> nice!
<cr1901_modern> 'Also: https://twitter.com/compu_85/status/1280012628333596673 I should try this on an old *nix system w/ a framebuffer device
