ChanServ changed the topic of ##yamahasynths to: Channel dedicated to questions and discussion of Yamaha FM Synthesizer internals and corresponding REing. Discussion of synthesis methods similar to the Yamaha line of chips, Sound Blasters + clones, PCM chips like RF5C68, and CD theory of operation are also on-topic. Channel logs: https://freenode.irclog.whitequark.org/~h~yamahasynths
<Foone> nifty. I did a thread on those before, and that's a good price. if I had any money, I'd be tempted!

<TD-Linux> a friend managed to cause instability by replacing a ldo output cap with a polymer cap
<TD-Linux> which is something we knew could happen but it's a bit surprising it happened with a polymer (which still has a lot higher esr at higher frequency)
<cr1901_modern> low-dropout cap?
<sorear> shunt filter cap on the downstream side of a ldo voltage regulator I think
<TD-Linux> I guess I always use "ldo" as shorthand for "ldo regulator" even though "regulator" is the more important half
<sorear> I'm not sure I know anyone who _doesn't_ do that
<cr1901_modern> That's fair, but I wanted to be sure
