<Turl>
I see it has no numpad though, not a chance I'll ever buy it :)
<lundman>
yeah the leds worked for about 2 months
<lundman>
now they blink like it had a storke
<lundman>
er stroke
<orly_owl>
or a stork delivering a baby
<Turl>
lundman: how can you survive without a numpad? :P
<lundman>
never use them..
<lundman>
but I know some people only use them
<orly_owl>
you just type numbers like so: one, two, three...
<Turl>
lundman: I find it heavily inconvenient to use the numbers over the a-z keys
<Turl>
if it weren't for the non-a-z chars that are shift combos over there I'd nuke that row
<lundman>
yeah, I learnt my typing on C64, so its not like I learnt to uyse them
<lundman>
but numpadis good when gaming
<Turl>
I never use the numpad with games :|
<Turl>
games should use the arrow keys
<Turl>
or wasd if it's some shooter for right handed people :)

<Mazon>
about f* time :)
<Boulet_>
oh nice
<Mazon>
interresting that they're switching to openmax
<Boulet_>
yeah
<Boulet_>
but openmax already has some optimization for neon, i wonder if they will really use their CedarX processor in those new libs.....
<Mazon>
I don't know much about the openmax api, but the fact that it's used throughout bodes well for the use of allwinner SoCs in xbmc systems
<Mazon>
and other media decoder uses

so, dualcore and 1GB ram ... what the mele should have had :)
<Mazon>
just dont know whats on the board, development wise
<RaYmAn>
yeah
<RaYmAn>
and whether amlogic is opensource friendly or not (probably not)
<Mazon>
they will be demoing it at IFA come september
<orly_owl>
does elinux.org have a list of allwinner hardware
<orly_owl>
or is therre another site
<Mazon>
afaik, amlogic is not that friendly, according to luke
<RaYmAn>

anyone has nexus 7?
<RaYmAn>
yup
<RaYmAn>
not with me though - at home
<hipboi_>
i have played with it a little bit
<hipboi_>
i feel it's not very good...
<RaYmAn>
How so?
<RaYmAn>
I was quite impressed tbh (and I have uhm, 6 other tablets)
<hipboi_>
it's thick
<hipboi_>
and many buttons, input field are very small
<hipboi_>
like in google play, install button
<RaYmAn>
I'll admit those are a bit small, yeah
<hipboi_>
and the inform center
<hipboi_>
looks not good
<specing>
yeah, all these consumer devices are crap anyway
<RaYmAn>
really? I'm quite happy with my n7.. The size is quite nice - it's really designed for portrait usage only - landscape isn't that great. It plays videos nicely, has an awesome quality screen with a relatively high res
<RaYmAn>
and it's speedy and batteyr is pretty decent

^ hipboi that
<hipboi>
really?
<hipboi>
today?
<Turl>
switching to OMX is a win for allwinner on the long run really
<Turl>
less maintenance cost for new android versions
<Turl>
OMX api is stable
<hipboi>
is today in the message means today?
<Turl>
hipboi probably
<Turl>
I saw it on a post on xbmc forum dated today too
<Boulet>
"is a win for allwinner"
<Boulet>
allwinner wins it all, so that was expected :o)
<WarheadsSE>
Apparently it boots with the evb.bin setup ok. unlike the LY-F1 A721 ....
<orly_owl>
looks nice
<WarheadsSE>
its "purdy"
<WarheadsSE>
I'm noticing only spl issues with these boards that are dual banked as 2x2x128M vs 2x1x256M, everything else seems to be working ok when it
<Boulet>
has JTAG and uart, nice
<WarheadsSE>
Have to figure that out later

<Boulet>
oops battery
<Boulet>
;)
<tristezo2k>
yes, it is at the power input, this is the backside
<RaYmAn>
hno: oh, btw. Before I booted kernel directly, I was using u-boot, halted at serial. U-boot loaded over fel that is. might be able to get more info on what breaks that way?

Hi, anyone around to give some assistance? A10 tablet, flashing CM10 - was advised i need to increase /system size, however not told what ROM would allow me to do this... any help would be great
<o00owooto00o>
ly-f1 tablet
<Turl>
o00owooto00o: no ROM will let you repartition as far as I'm aware
<hno>
o00owooto00o, best way to repartition is to have a livesuite image with suitable partitioning, and select for format the flash when running livesuite.
<Turl>
adjust the size of the partitions on the script
<Turl>
then format data & system and reflash your rom of choice
eFfeM has quit [Client Quit]
<o00owooto00o>
okay. i dont mine livsuite. just dont know what img has the right system size
<furan>
wish I could get this nand upgrade working
<furan>
livesuit flashes now, and it takes a lot longer since the chip is much larger
<furan>
but brom reboots into fel
<furan>
which makes me wonder if brom has supported nand hardcoded
<furan>
otherwise I am not sure how it is able to read the first page
<furan>
I guess if I can get everything working I could have an sd card with u-boot on it that jumps to u-boot on the nand
<furan>
yeah I should try to get sd card boot working today
<hno>
RaYmAn, test1 + u-boot.bin over fel?
<Boulet>
in the USB branch of u-boot, there is a fastboot.c
<Boulet>
with it is it possible to load a kernel via usb without flashing it ?
<o00owooto00o>
Turl any idea where to get an IMG with bigger /system ?
<Boulet>
it should be possible to boot everything without flashing isn't it ?
<Boulet>
maybe load test1, come back to fel, load the kernel to DDR3 via fel, load u-boot and u-boot executes kernel ?
<hno>
Boulet, no idea. It's a pretty mutilated fastboot.
<hno>
Boulet, there is also the option of loading kernel over serial. No hacks needed
<Boulet>
serial, you mean UART ? gosh...
<hno>
yes
<Boulet>
i am not sure i have that patience ...
lkcl has joined #arm-netbook
<furan>
I should also figure out the uart...
<hno>
Boulet, it's only 5min for the kernel.
<Boulet>
right but would be 5sec by fel ;)
<furan>
btw does brom/fel output anything over uart?
<Boulet>
as long as we tell u-boot to just execute and not load anything
<hno>
furan, no
<furan>
ok
<hno>
Boulet, you can't fel to u-boot. You would need to fel copy the kernel before starting uboot
<hno>
but then, why uboot?
<Boulet>
yes, that's what i said :)
<Boulet>
hno, right, why uboot ....
<Turl>
o00owooto00o: I'm not aware of any in existence
<furan>
another question, when I look at the boot partition, linux.ini references u-boot, but where does u-boot decide to boot from nand? is it hardcoded?
<furan>
(e.g. there is no boot.scr or whatever0
<hno>
o00owooto00o, easy t build one from the SDK.
<hno>
furan, ther is both a default environment, and an environment partition in the nand.
<hno>
furan, halt u-boot and then printenv to see how yours is configured.
