my device says its a arm920t pxa27x processor. which is two different ones right? one belongs to ARM9TDMI and the other to Xscale. so how do i know what is the correct armv for my device? v4 or armv5?

or do i just try to get the latest kernel, mainline i guess they call it and try cross compiling that first and see what errors i get? is that how the process works? and then look for patches after?
