<Tonymac32> X96*
<Tonymac32> And by dud I mean the Android distro was junk, the hardware appeared to be working perfectly, unlike that old S905 box I had trhat was trash

<Tonymac32> how is everyone today?
<IgorPec> very good :)
<Tonymac32> Awesome. So I started up one of Oleg's images on that S905X2 TV box, other than mysteriously missing nand-sata-install it's working well.

<IgorPec> aha, so you can actually use that tv box for something
<Tonymac32> Exactly
<Tonymac32> once I can install to the eMMC, it's there and recognized
<IgorPec> but i guess you need stock bootloader?
<Tonymac32> nope, it's a G12a, so it'sa related to the SoC in the N2, which is G12b
<IgorPec> cool
<Tonymac32> I was an idiot to have bought that thing, I probably paid 1.5-2x what it was worth, but I was hoping it would "just work". :P
<IgorPec> ah, well, its hard to not buy rubish nowadays
<Tonymac32> I wound up getting an nvidia shield TV, massive overkill but also pretty vanilla Android
<IgorPec> for what usage?
<Tonymac32> TV, wife and kids require simple solutions. Having an internet-based TV system and a Plex server, Android is preferred
<Tonymac32> and Amazon has too much of my business already
<IgorPec> we have android tv + kodi + cabel operator pripriatery tv box
<IgorPec> kodi is movies / cartoons
<IgorPec> no gaming so far
<Tonymac32> yeah, I have an XU4 set up for N64/NES/etc. :)
<IgorPec> well, i got an "old" pc somewhere, which i might use for that
<Tonymac32> For *reasons* I have a mountain of SBC's, so
<IgorPec> yeah, well. my main concern now is which controller to get
<IgorPec> something like
<IgorPec> is that too expensive/good or is it rubish?
<Tonymac32> I got a couple XBOX 360 ones since I figured they couldn't be too bad
<IgorPec> aha, the most basic one?
<Tonymac32> I don't know if you can really go too wrong, I have some PS3 controllers as well (since I have a second hand PS3 that someone didn't know how to swap the failed HDD on)
<IgorPec> i just need something to try with kids. i can play with keyboard :)
<Tonymac32> I think that first one will be fine, honestly
