<Tonymac32> ick
<Tonymac32> My wife was going to drive down to the mountains to visit her family next week, but obviously that's not going to happen
<lanefu> yeah my anniversary is next week... no plans now.. and amazon's delivery is slow so i can't cover my ass that way either lol
<Tonymac32> ROFL
<Tonymac32> yeah
<Tonymac32> Alright, kids in bed, time to look at this unforgivable crusty trash heap known as U-boot 2015.01 to extract the necessary Amlogic bits.
<Tonymac32> ugh, ddr firmwares
* Tonymac32 sips Guinness
<Tonymac32> At least these ones seem to work...
* Tonymac32 looks at Rockchip
<lanefu> Tonymac32: trying to get amlogic boards to newer u-boot?
<Tonymac32> The N2 is the only one I think
<lanefu> gotcha
<lanefu> do you have an N2?
<Tonymac32> we had Potato/K2/C2 up to mainline at one point
<Tonymac32> yep
<lanefu> cool... i have one too
<Tonymac32> I have all the things
<Tonymac32> ;-)
<lanefu> and i'm not using it as a desktop right now
<lanefu> so i can help test n stuffs
<Tonymac32> I don't have that tiny Rockchip based NanoPi clone
<Tonymac32> I don't know that it is incredibly relevant feature wise vs the NanoPi NEO or the OPi zero
<lanefu> so you know the slots on teh outside of the mc1 boards?
<Tonymac32> yes
<lanefu> i got some sheet metal and some misc steel n stuff
<lanefu> i wanna make like a micro rack or something for them
<Tonymac32> nice
<lanefu> i almost wonder if like fence wire or something is enough
<lanefu> aka not sure how to make the correct track for them to slide on
<Tonymac32> I was thinking of using my desktop CNC and carving a frame out of some FR4 I have, it would take some time though, those little motors aren't meant for actual cutting
<lanefu> well good news
<Tonymac32> hmmmm actually
<lanefu> you have time
<lanefu> sorta
<Tonymac32> looks like 1.6 mm PCB would actually be functionally usable as a slidey rack
<Tonymac32> the issue I have is that they are so small the cables drag them around
<Tonymac32> So I'm going to bolt them
<lanefu> just bolt them throug the heatsinks?
<Tonymac32> yeah, that's an M-something sized hole with interference for threads
<lanefu> oh perfect
<lanefu> i'm running out of switch ports in my rack :P
<Tonymac32> lol

<chewitt> Tonymac32: https://github.com/LibreELEC/amlogic-boot-fip might be an interesting resource for you
<chewitt> I got bored of using different packages for every board so repackaged all the fip sources for all the Amlogic SBCs
<chewitt> N2 works fine
<chewitt> the only board in that fip repo that I have not personally tested with mainline u-boot is the NanoPi K2

<ArmbianTwitter> @appelboor (Sander ⭐): @fabaff @armbian @thepine64 ARM device has BIOS? I thought BIOS was a x86 thing? (29s ago)
ordex has joined #armbian
<ArmbianTwitter> @fabaff (Fabian Affolter): @appelboor @armbian @thepine64 No, it doesn't. Here that feature is part of the U-Boot configuration. I was a bit unspecific as I assumed that the majority of all desktops and laptops still have a BIOS and the need of changing the boot order if you want to boot from a different device. (23s ago)

<Tonymac32> chewitt thanks, we have a repo with all the blobs as well, I'm working it out, but will def. look at this. I put the K2 together and Neil committed it to mainline (same as C2 but without their special blob)
<Tonymac32> I spent too long away last year, I think the rest of the boards have fallen behind mainline as well for random reasons

<Tonymac32> yours is certainly more complete. ;)
<Tonymac32> In other news, I'm trying to figure out how to move the BOINC working directory, but it fighting it hard
<Tonymac32> I redirected the symlink, copied everything with all permissions/etc, renamed the original target directory, and it still saved it's data into the original target directory under the new name
<Tonymac32> so...
<steev> Tonymac32: edit /etc/default/boinc ?

<Tonymac32> steev well ffs, I searched through their wiki, google, etc and nowhere did I find refence to that file. Istil lwant to know how it kept using that directory after I renamed it though...
<Tonymac32> let me try that
<steev> if was started as a service... it'll keep running it as that. if the service wasn't started, it'll shit the files wherever you run the client
