<Chick3nman> every 1000 blocks, 50,000 coins should be issues based on the target amount
<[-SaRaFiNa-]> Linked by Chick3nman - Content type: unknown
<bob21> where's my math wrong? there should be about 55 million give or take (for 3 years)
<bob21> coingecko says there are 375 million grcs
<Chick3nman> possibly a retargeting from the beginning?
<Chick3nman> i know the magnitude multiplier has changed
<bob21> so maybe it's a fixed amount per day, but the amount has increased since inception?
mrarturas has joined #gridcoin
<Chick3nman> im not sure
<Chick3nman> that is actually kinda weird
<Chick3nman> i had noticed that
<Chick3nman> the reward amount and time scale seem off
<bob21> maybe someone is squirrelling away 320 million GRCs! I want in!
<Chick3nman> there wasnt any sort of pre-mine
<[-SaRaFiNa-]> Linked by Peppernrino - Content type: unknown
<Chick3nman> as far as im aware
<Peppernrino> "Premined: 0% - Initial distribution based on Proof-of-Burn from Gridcoin Classic - Research Foundation Block = 340,569,880"
<Peppernrino> does that help any?
<bob21> So coingecko is counting 340 million burned GRCs?
<Chick3nman> ooooo
<Chick3nman> its from gridcoin classic
<Chick3nman> thats why
<Chick3nman> that makes more sense
<Chick3nman> i forgot about the classic coins that got burned to move to the new system
<bob21> not familiar with it, are those GRC still "valid"?
<bob21> oh, burned.

<bob21> So total volume out there is more like 35 million?
<fkinglag> for every old coin there are more new in terms of the ratio, so something like that bob21
<fkinglag> from the transition to GRC after GRCx
<fkinglag> which, was about a year ago
<fkinglag> I think the coins were expensive :\
<fkinglag> in terms of alts :P
<bob21> still wrapping my head around it. to me "burned" means out of circulation. Or were grx traded at some ratio for grc?
<bob21> ^grcx
MrControll has joined #gridcoin
<fkinglag> I don't know enough about the transition in the process of burning, the coins were being reminted to some extent
<fkinglag> for every 1 GRCx it was like 10 GRC, for example. I don't know for sure if that's exactly what it was, though.
<Chick3nman> god damn AMD needs to stop making dual GPUs.
<fkinglag> lol
<Chick3nman> the Radeon Pro Duo boasts 16TFlops of compute performance
<Chick3nman> on one shitty little 120mm radiator water cooling loop
<bob21> ok. so the value of grcx didn't just vanish. Ok. Looks very close to 1:1 then
MrControll has quit [Client Quit]
<Chick3nman> considering the 295x2 was locked to a 75C thermal throttle temp and i couldnt keep it below that with 2x 252CFM delta pans in push/pull
<Chick3nman> i HIGHLY doubt the pro duo could EVER be used for compute
<fkinglag> yeah, exactly, bob21

<Dashaiva> gregndaddy, no you didn't
<MCWarriorz> sorry dashaiva was doing something
<MCWarriorz> ok quick lesson
<MCWarriorz> the first letter is either i or e
<MCWarriorz> i is introverted, you like solitary and is reserved
<MCWarriorz> parties aren't your thing
<MCWarriorz> e is extrovert, you like parties and people
<MCWarriorz> the second letter is n or s
<MCWarriorz> n is intuitive, you like to free environments, you're creative and don't like structured things
<MCWarriorz> s is sensing, you like structured enviroments
<MCWarriorz> the third is t or f
<MCWarriorz> t is thinking, you would rather be right then nice
<MCWarriorz> f is feeling, you would rather be nice then right
<MCWarriorz> the last letter is j or p
<MCWarriorz> j is judging, you are responsible and can work in continuous streams

<Dashaiva> MCWarriorz, Thing is, i have learned enough about myself that these tests don't teach me anything new. I've spent a lot of time on self-awareness
<Dashaiva> Which I find to be a more important trait than anything these tests show. If you know yourself, you are able to stretch beyond what your "normal" limits are because you can manage them
<Dashaiva> Although I would point out that if you know nothing about someone (eg. recruiting) it can give you a pretty good idea if they're a fit for the work.
<MCWarriorz> oh, I'm really interested in MBTI
<MCWarriorz> I would have so much fun if I knew everyone's mbti

<Oinkers> i thought he was definitely out a month ago
<Peppernrino> guns destroy sober thought.
<Oinkers> but he's still hanging in there
<Peppernrino> it doesn't matter how good your idea is if you have a gun.
<Oinkers> im interested to see how the RNC and DNC pan out
<Peppernrino> he's more than hanging in there...
<Peppernrino> the popular media is covering shit all wrong.
<Oinkers> RNC will be the equivalent of watching a political supernova
<Oinkers> going to be exciting
<Peppernrino> the actual movement won't stop even if he isn't elected.
<Oinkers> well
<Oinkers> if i can don my tinfoil hat for a second
<Peppernrino> people are sick of getting fucked around by rich assholes.
<Oinkers> people are definitely starting to wake up
<Peppernrino> idd
<Oinkers> the internet makes it way too hard to throw around blatant lies anymore
<Peppernrino> 10 years ago, you talk about conspiracy, everybody told you to shut and drink.
<Peppernrino> now it's different.
<Oinkers> at least to our generation
<Oinkers> maybe up to +20 yrs
<Oinkers> well the term "conspiracy" was not such a loaded term up until the 60s
<Peppernrino> conspiracy just means two or more people deciding on something in secret.
<Peppernrino> no big deal .lol
<Oinkers> preaching to the choir
<Peppernrino> people are so stupid and easily led.
<Peppernrino> we can't hate them for it tho.
<Oinkers> it would be more suspect if we found NO conspiracies
<Peppernrino> they're stupid. all they have is resentment and revenge.
<Oinkers> eh
<Oinkers> i wouldn't say that
<Oinkers> I'd say they're easily led by that
<Peppernrino> lol
<Oinkers> I think there's a huge psychological war going on
<Peppernrino> mhm
<Sander96> cough
<Sander96> otc
<Sander96> cough
<Oinkers> where people are tempered to accept outrage as something sold by their politicians
<Peppernrino> i think there might be an even greater conspiracy at hand to make us want to be better citizens to take the government down.
<Peppernrino> we were lazy. complacent.
<Oinkers> i don't know its necessarily a conspiracy
<Peppernrino> needed a fire under our asses.
<Oinkers> it could just be chaos theory at work
<Oinkers> culmination of a bunch of dumb monkeys all working for themselves
<Peppernrino> HAARP is/was being used to project radio signals that somehow convert to magnetism in our brains and make us more productive/smarter.
<Peppernrino> POC is everywhere.
<Peppernrino> tinfoil hat might save you.
<Peppernrino> it's not even a bad thing... but it is a conspiracy.
<Oinkers> if I remember correctly, I think tinfoil doesn't work well if you want to builld a Faraday cage ;)
<Oinkers> nope, im wrong
<Oinkers> it does
<Oinkers> I try not to dig too deep on conspiracies
<Oinkers> I used to
<Oinkers> but my opinion is there are too many to keep track of
<Oinkers> which are true and which are not is also problematic
<Peppernrino> just gotta pay attention to the stuff that you can decipher. that's the only way you can be helpful.
<Oinkers> though i have confidence more are true than either of us would ever be comfortable with
<Peppernrino> like me trying to help chick3nman with hos cracking homework.
<Peppernrino> his*
<Oinkers> the ones wikipedia knows are true are disconcerting enough
<Peppernrino> "if the bone is too big, it's probably not your bone."
<Oinkers> anyway, if you're interested, some russian billionaire is funding a project to launch a bunch of probes to alpha centauri a (hopefully) within the next 20 years
<Oinkers> stephen hawking backed it
<Peppernrino> i'm getting more and more suspicious of stephen hawking lately
<Peppernrino> he could hide the fact that he was going insane pretty easily. think about it.

<Oinkers> the only reason we know about quantum tunneling and quantum entanglement, and the idea of non-locality is because einstein was so adamant with disproving quantum theory that he provided these thought experiments (which logically followed if you accept quantum theory) which he thought provided enough questions to show the idea was asinine

<TerryxMasters> oh while I have everyone here again because I'm new and trying to learn I had a question. Does the amount of gridcoin I make from mining (in my case, WCG) increase the bigger my wallet is? Like right now I have a whopping 5 coins, I know I know exciting Kappa
<TerryxMasters> provided I did the same workload, am I more likely to make more money with a larger amount in my wallet? Or would 5 gridcoins and a 400 RAC make the same amount of GRC as 5000 with a 400 RAC?
<tom12> Terry - pretty sure walletsize does not affect total payment for mining, just the interest payment. Wallet size does affect how often you get paid, though. Bigger wallet = more frequent payouts.
<tom12> I think higher RAC also causes more frequent payouts too
<tom12> This all assumes you are solo, not pool
<TerryxMasters> I'm pretty sure this is solo. I'm not going to lie I've looked into bitcoin before and the setup process and involvement seemed a lot easier than gridcoin... I was following a setup guide on youtube and most of the faucet links were dead, nothing mentioned the difference between priv and public keys, thankfully I was able to piece most of it togeth
<TerryxMasters> er but I'm fairly certain I'm solo. Can you be both?
<Sander96> Gridcoin is more difficult for sure
<Sander96> did you register on project websites = solo, did you register on pool.gridcoin.co = pool
<Kutowi> Guess gridcoin becomes more complicated because the client has to work together with BOINC, which isn't really created with mining in mind
<Sander96> It's a unique coin
<teslax> you cann do both. but for the pool you have to join one. try http://pool.gridcoin.co/
<[-SaRaFiNa-]> Linked by teslax - GridCoin.co Pool (beta)
<Oinkers> is there some sort of technical designation to distinguish between private an public keys or are we referring to internal, user-based organization?
<TerryxMasters> ah I'm only WCG right now so gotta be solo
<Sander96> Definitely
<Sander96> Great project, not great for lots of GRC

<TerryxMasters> solo
<ltkeklulz> If you're solo, you need time before your beacon is recognized in the neural network
<ltkeklulz> I think it can take up to a few days sometimes
<ltkeklulz> Have you already sent a beacon?
<ltkeklulz> Fucking Windows 10! WHY WON'T YOU LET ME CHOOSE WHEN TO UPDATE?!?!

<ltkeklulz> I think it fucked up some projects I was running when it decided to update last night

<TerryxMasters> ah ok. this is all so interesting. I didnt think I could send a beacon cause gridcoin.us said something about not being able to do it yet for people on their first day or something?

<MCWarriorz> how do i turn off the boinc screensaver
<TerryxMasters> Thanks for the links guys. Ive been reading them and I think the problem right now is just that it's my first day, so I have no stakes, nothing's matured, and I'm still listed as "INVESTOR" with no magnitude so even though my RAC is like 400+, I can't do anything further in the guides yet
<ltkeklulz> From your screensaver settings?
<TerryxMasters> "If your CPID is not showing, and instead 'INVESTOR' is present, you must troubleshoot what's gone wrong.
<TerryxMasters> BOINC stats take time to propagate, if you've been contributing towards BONIC for less than 24 hours then you should wait until the next day before proceeding (continue computing BOINC work units!)."
<TerryxMasters> So I'm stuck in nowhere land for a while =?
<teslax> TerryxMasters: just sit and wait.
<MCWarriorz> terry you have to wait about 24-72 hours
<MCWarriorz> that's how long it took for me to get a cpid
<TerryxMasters> Just so I know for the future, will I see anything come in from the work that I'm doing now? Or does the work I'm currently going all go towards verification, and THEN whatever work I do will start bringing in GRC?
<MCWarriorz> once you get a cpid do execute advertisebeacon
<TerryxMasters> I can't forget about the beacon thing, I keep thinking of a Minecraft beacon =|
<MCWarriorz> terry, you won't see anything until your cpid comes in

<TerryxMasters> jk =P
<MCWarriorz> no really
<MCWarriorz> do pool mining
<TerryxMasters> Well let me just explain how I got thrown off. It's just a matter of myself getting flustered. I looked into pool mining and the first thing that strikes me is the part about setting up the CPID. I look over at the wallet and see I'm still "INVESTOR", so for a moment in my head I think "I can't do that yet". I just woke up a little while ago so my

<TerryxMasters> gridcoin is a special beast

<MCWarriorz> you don't get a cpid for pool mining
<Gary760> !cpids 204d178f9b6d4de25297c99fed0ed860

<TerryxMasters> Do I get a new CPID?
<MCWarriorz> it's supposed to be like that
<MCWarriorz> no pool mining is super easy
<TerryxMasters> (let me know when the confusing part kicks in) =P
<MCWarriorz> link your boinc manager to the pool

<TerryxMasters> well this kinda sucks. Tried adding asteroids at home to my lists of projects but apparently it can be very GPU intensive and theres no way to limit the amount of GPU it uses. RIP

<GRCtip> Sorry a_sewer_rat, your rain to active users (0.78823529 GRC) is too small (min. 0.1 GRC). Increase the amount or decrease max active users.
<TerryxMasters> "pool mining=false"
<Deviantone> that's normal for pool mining
<TerryxMasters> really?
<a_sewer_rat> lol
<Deviantone> yes
<a_sewer_rat> !rainactive 0.78823529

<Deviantone> Basically you get all your stats from the pool

<bob21> thx rat
<Deviantone> Yes
<a_sewer_rat> 8)
<TerryxMasters> oh ok. As long as it's working correctly
<TerryxMasters> thanks Devian =)

<Peppernrino> WE HAVE HAD SCAMMERS TRYING TO STEAL GRIDCOINS THROUGH MALICIOUS LINKS. CHANNEL OPS WILL NOT CONTACT YOU ABOUT "PUMP" GROUPS.
<Peppernrino> --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<Peppernrino> PLEASE "/WHOIS" THE USER AND REPORT THE IP AND USERNAME TO A KNOWN OP FOR IMMEDIATE BAN.
<Peppernrino> --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<Peppernrino> "/uwho <nickname>" - /whois <nickname> command shows you a lot of cryptic info in the Status window but the /uwho <nickname> command will open a clear and informative User Central.
<Peppernrino> "/whowas <nickname>" Shows information about someone who -just- left IRC.
<Peppernrino> "/who <*address.string*>" Shows all people on IRC with a matching address.
<Peppernrino> --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<Peppernrino> DO NOT CLICK LINKS ON IRC WITHOUT THINKING ABOUT IT FIRST.
<Peppernrino> --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
<Peppernrino> Use only ONE nickname, or register your alternative nicks. People have been grouping nicks to farm rain and other nefarious purposes.
