<Peppernrino> whatever. i'm not your dad,
<brainiak005> I think even before boinc was involved, Dashaiva would OC the CPU for improved FPS
<Dashaiva> If temps are within safe range, I can still run o/c and retain the benefits
<brainiak005> what was the fps boost?
<brainiak005> and what monitor?
<Dashaiva> fps depends on the game, but the stock clock is 3.5ghz, i was running 4.5
<Peppernrino> again, i say, i have no idea when the line between gamer and enthusiast got so blurred... but i don't fucking like it.
<brainiak005> okay, percentage wise, on average, fps boost?
<Peppernrino> fps = 0
<Dashaiva> 28% overclock would result in a 10 - 15% boost in FPS depending on the game, resolution
<brainiak005> was the fps normally around the refresh rate of your monitor?
<Dashaiva> I try to run at 60fps minimum
<Dashaiva> on a 1440p monitor
<brainiak005> thats resolution
<brainiak005> what's the refresh rate?
<Dashaiva> I don't use vsync, but the monitor runs at 60
<gizmodroid> !ping
<[-SaRaFiNa-]> PONG! I'm ALIVE!
yepla has quit [Ping timeout: 252 seconds]
<brainiak005> cool, so did the overclock put you over 60fps on a decent amount of games that wouldn't normally hit 60?
<Dashaiva> Yes, and if not that, it allowed me to enable or turn up some settings
<Peppernrino> anywho
<Peppernrino> enough talk about fps
<Peppernrino> #gamers
<brainiak005> I was more surprised that the cpu would matter so much XD
<Peppernrino> every part of a computer is important
<brainiak005> hooray for stock clock i7 870 from ages ago :P
<brainiak005> (for games Peppernrino)
<Peppernrino> no games.
<Peppernrino> please.
<Peppernrino> overclocks are relevant. games are not.
<Dashaiva> You asked why i overclock :)
<brainiak005> I was clarifying that I was surprised the cpu would matter so much in games, I'm not stupid enough to think the CENTRAL processing unit isn't important XD
<Peppernrino> no i didn't.
<Peppernrino> shit was rhetorical.
<Peppernrino> i pretty much just expect you to do what i say, so...
<Dashaiva> <Peppernrino> why don't you just run it stock?
<Peppernrino> shit was rhetorical.
<brainiak005> how were we supposed to know?
<Peppernrino> i thought you knew me.
<Peppernrino> "i calls em as i sees em"
<brainiak005> it's hard to with only text XD
<Dashaiva> rhe·tor·i·cal (of a question) asked in order to produce an effect or to make a statement rather than to elicit information.
<brainiak005> sure, so I'd think you'd ask a direct question to get a response
<Peppernrino> so anyway
<brainiak005> Dashaiva, forgot to ask XD What CPU? :P
<Dashaiva> brainiak005, i5 6600k
<brainiak005> interesting
<Dashaiva> I gave my wife my overclocked 4690k when she needed a pc for school
<brainiak005> hadn'd heard of that one before XD Guess I'm behind a little :P
<brainiak005> no hyperthreading?
<brainiak005> huh
<brainiak005> didn't know HT was limited to certain CPUs
<Dashaiva> only the i7 series does HT
<brainiak005> ohhh
<brainiak005> wow
<Dashaiva> the 6700k has 4 cores, but 8 logical processors. it does help with keeping the cores busy
wolfypup has quit [Quit: http://www.kiwiirc.com/ - A hand crafted IRC client]
<brainiak005> yeah, i guess i got used to HT on my i7 desktop and laptop XD
<brainiak005> forgot it wasn't standard :P
<Dashaiva> for me it wasn't worth the extra $200, esp. if I was already overclocking
<brainiak005> makes sense

<moisesm123> Hi everyone!
<moisesm123> I´m reinstalling Windows 10 -_-
<moisesm123> Yesterday Insider Build apparently installed bad or something, which made the system really unresponsive
<moisesm123> even BOINC wouldn´t run
<moisesm123> not even the universal apps would run
<moisesm123> and I forgot something very important
<moisesm123> I forgot to backup my GRC key
<moisesm123> but luckily I had the gridcoin wallet installed in another PC which used to run the same key just in case my PC went bad
<moisesm123> so I could copy the key from there and using it here now

<moisesm123> um, I was not running it simultaneously. It was because I cannot use the Gridcoin Wallet in the university because the port is blocked so I installed in in another PC in my house so I ran it when I was in the university but I closed the wallet in the PC I used in the university
<moisesm123> and also like a backup just in case
