<Phay>
I was at a Model UN class event that was yesterday 12pm-9pm and today 5pm-8:30pm
<Phay>
I had to leave early yesterday so I only worked from 12pm-5pm
<Phay>
that was extremely unhealthy for me... like, that is really unhealthy
<Phay>
then as for today
<xXUnRealXx>
That sounds like healthy excersize to me!
<Phay>
I got there early because I thought it started at 5 but it was 5:30pm. this mean I missed dinner, and hadn't really eatten all day because I was exhausted and kept sleeping instead
<Phay>
(earlier)
<Phay>
so I had to get dinner, but they wouldn't hear me out...
<xXUnRealXx>
assholes
<Phay>
I finally was able to, but I had to run which is really unhealthy for me. REALLY UNHEALTHY
<Phay>
so I ran about half a mile full circuit to get the food
<Phay>
then I came back, and was really tired, but worked hard as I could
<Phay>
my chronic pain, obviously cuz running, increased
<Phay>
i was doing the best I could and was gradually shaking more from pain....
<Phay>
the 21 yo student teacher wouldn't listen to me or treat me nicely
<Phay>
she treated me like a moron even tho I have processing problems and pain problems....
<Phay>
I went over my natural limits, but was ignored and punished instead... even though I was doing it to help
<Phay>
I could have bailed from the beginning, but wanted to help. But by contributing more (time), she unfortenately must have gotten the wrong impression and started treating me like an imbecile

slaps [-SaRaFiNa-] around a bit with a large trout
<Phay>
when I was trying to talk about needing to stop, she would just say "there are people waiting for you to work"
<Phay>
so... I mean... that. and more which I can't put into words atm
<Phay>
but.. as I was walking away, I realized something. Even though I was doing more work than others around me, but NOT all by a long shot, and trying my hardest... urg, idk how to explain it. basically they reward people at the end of the event. and I realized that since my handicap and results, I was automatically "disqualified" IN THIS event from awards, because I couldn't keep up.
<Phay>
hard to phrase
<Phay>
this doesn't apply to everything at all...
<fkinglag>
:(
<Deviantone>
wtf
<Phay>
even tho I may have pushed myself a lot harder than others, it will not be rewarded. More rather it is accomplishments. I don't mind that in the grand scheme of things.. I just think it's Horrible in EDUCATION
<Phay>
I say this ONLY
<Phay>
to education
<Phay>
not sports
<Phay>
not jobs
<Phay>
so... this is a lot of what I have to fight for on a daily basis
<Phay>
one of my roles and goals in life is to help fix the systems to not let others who have some or less of my problems go through these hurdles
<Phay>
I know how to fix them, and can... so this is what I strive to do. Fix broken systems
<Phay>
Summed up
<Phay>
It's hard knowing that for the rest of today and some of tomorrow, I will be in a lot of physical pain for how hard I pushed myself, but my teacher will punishment instead because of my results
<Phay>
that is what is hard. Having to leave early because of health. that is punished... even tho I went longer than I should have
<Phay>

by setting those you can divide your crunch time between projects
mnk has joined #gridcoin
<SchietSchijf>
setting one project on 200 and the other on 100 will tell BOINC that project one is priority and gets double the resources as project two
<curly-brace>
it does not work.. i run vlhc, which gives me only two tasks, so only 2 cores are used, and i run lhc too. and i always find lhc using all the cores, but share is set as 60 to vlhc and 40 to lhc. i hahe wuprop too with 100, but don't think it is the cause
<SchietSchijf>
wuprop isn't taken into account because it is a non-cpu intensive project
<SchietSchijf>
vlhc will get priority because of higher resource shares
<curly-brace>
but it stops
<SchietSchijf>
does vlhc have tasks to distribute?
<curly-brace>
at least it was.. now i setup project switch time to 999999
<SchietSchijf>
that only means that tasks will run until completion
<curly-brace>
vlhc recieves two tasks and is crunching them 24h
<SchietSchijf>
i think
<curly-brace>
don't know why it says that my pc reached the task limit for that project.. i'm willing to have more then 2.. but i cant =)

<curly-brace>
i'm crunching i think 4 days and every task grows my rac a bit
<curly-brace>
how much will it take?
<curly-brace>
forever?
<SchietSchijf>
your rac is always subject to change
<SchietSchijf>
because it is a avarage over the last xx days/weeks
<SchietSchijf>
so it depends on what you crunch
<curly-brace>
and what is this xx? =)
<curly-brace>
lhc + vlhc. how to get info about the period?
<SchietSchijf>
don't know, don't care :)
<joshoeah>
@SchietSchijf naw.. I can see my CPID split due to one of my hosts not behaving itself
<SchietSchijf>
I check boincstats for that
<curly-brace>
i thought the rac grows across one week, but you say that years matter
<SchietSchijf>
aha, than you might want to try to set the other hosts to the same cpid as in your wallet?
<curly-brace>
wtf?
<SchietSchijf>
ah, in that context
<joshoeah>
Ah.. I can do that? They've all migrated back to my old CPID

Hey again all.. checking back in now there's more folks here. Have been happily mining away, went on holiday, and whilst I was away my CPID split. Have managed to get it to merge back into the old CPID, but my wallet is stuck on the split one - and it's sent a beacon out, too. It's been this way for some time and I'm not really sure how to fix it..
<joshoeah>
Any ideas..?
<joshoeah>
Up until the 14th of April I was receiving income multiple times daily, but since then (when the split occurred I assume) the magnitude has dropped to 0 and my wallet is stuck on the incorrect CPID.
<customminer>
Remove the cpid from your conf file and relaunch? If it keeps picking up the wrong cpid it might be a time thing before the old cpid gets invalidated on the nn. Might be quicker to make a new wallet.dat and transfer your funds to that.
<joshoeah>
Hrm, I'll give that a shot and see how I get along. Is it worth manually adding the correct CPID to the conf file? Or will that just confuse things further?

Wouldn't it have been easier to create a storj BOINC project, created a pool similar to pool.gridcoin.co and used the stock BOINC client?
<Peppernrino>
somebody is going to get a payout from that...
<Peppernrino>
easier yes, but then you can't sneak any code in anywhere
<customminer>
Peppernrino: I'd hope that it'd be transparent & distribute both storj and gridcoin rewards to the users. Though, from the questionaire it looks like they're planning on offering payouts in other forms than just cryptocurrency.
<customminer>
Peppernrino: Haha, yeah that's what I was thinking :P
<Peppernrino>
i hope jdheeter understands we're trying to look out for the fam, and not jsut fuck him out of a project...
<customminer>
Distributing a storj wu via BOINC (assuming it was not cheatable) would be huge!
<Jonbvn>
IMHO, the difficulties new users have with wallet/BOINC and them talking to each other, this sounds like a good idea. Of course further details are required
<customminer>
nah nah, just interested in the business model, it's not 100% clear from the site yet
<Peppernrino>
settle down bon jovi

Hi
<customminer>
"Contribute spare computing resources with no security concerns and no performance slowdowns." I must disagree - there are security concerns with DC projects (namely malicious project takeovers, outdated projects potentially vulnerable to old exploits), and the BOINC client will attempt to use 100% of the computers resources unless configured to only compute
<customminer>
whilst idle.
<Mxmlln>
^ thats an extremely misleading and false statement right thurr
<NeuralMiner>
yeah, i was down to throw a few extra drives at it, but i dont want ot be sitting next to jared the subway guy in prison.
<customminer>
"People running the DriveShare client will never know what files they are hosting, nor will they be able to access them. The person uploading files to the network will be responsible." That did not work for megaupload..
<NeuralMiner>
lol
<Mxmlln>
this storj thing, have I heard about this before? A crypto you earn with extra HD's then sorry jumping in a bit late here

i'm more for making it easier to set up gridcoin and BOINC, and working out bugs with active development, rather than adding even ANOTHER layer of programs...
<customminer>
idk, another pool is welcome, but in its current state the website isn't transparent & has some inaccuracies
<customminer>
taking project selection out of the hands of the free users is a slight concern
<customminer>
looking into cheaper storage solutions, you could buy a 16 storage slot server for like $200 off ebay and throw 16 8TB drives in it, and pop it in a datacenter somewhere..
<Mxmlln>
what are datacenter rental costs like?
<NeuralMiner>
curious to see what the real return is on that.
<customminer>
Mxmlln: approx $30 per 1U, so 2U would be approx $60 per month

Can u make a shapeshift bot for channel? So i can shift at will.?
<customminer>
we don't have shapeshift support :(
<customminer>
we've asked a few times, but the usual response is something along the lines of "Your cryptocurrency has been added to the coin discovery list" or something
<customminer>
we could ask again, especially if we're going to be getting Coinomi support soon

just a matter of time

Deviantone - I know that. However, one of the major benefits of GRC is that it doesn't use the same power as a country like BTC. Therefore, to then run BU seems somewhat contrary to this ideal

my friend says that if there wasn't competition for bitcoin mining (ie there was only 1 miner) then all of the transactions could be handled by one GPU
<fkinglag>
I'm not sure I understand or agree
<fkinglag>
" right now if the difficulty was low enough and keeping the block timing to 10mins wasn't a concern that a single gpu (cpu probably even still) could verify every transaction going on"
