daviddias: got something for you to test ;) https://github.com/ipfs/station/pull/152 I just added shrinkwrap so if you run npm install you should get the exact same deps as I have

Nice! Will test in a bit :)

daviddias: made some progress and merged my upgrade pr, shrinkwrap should make things a bit more reliable for now (at least for development versions)
<daviddias>
still no love though :(
<daviddias>
I start it with 0 ipfs processes running
<daviddias>
it loads the tray icon
<daviddias>
and it looks like an ipfs daemon is running
<daviddias>
if I click console or browser -> [Error: Cannot open browser, IPFS daemon not running]
<daviddias>
if I click stop, it crashes
<dignifiedquire>
are you sure you pulled the latest master?
<dignifiedquire>
what’s the error when it crashes?
<daviddias>
version { Version: '0.3.10', Commit: '', Repo: '2' }
<daviddias>
ok, the reason of my crash was incompatibility on the ipfs repo version
<daviddias>
now I can start and stop
ygrek has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds]
<daviddias>
each time i click stop, it prints [1] info: Stopped daemon 2x
<daviddias>
and opening the webui doesn't show stats
<dignifiedquire>
cool
<dignifiedquire>
seeing the same thing
<daviddias>
I'm short of time now, but will help debug more later in the evening or early tomorrow :)
<dignifiedquire>
webui doesn’t work cause of misconfigured 3.10 for api access -.-
<daviddias>
oh my
<daviddias>
we need to do 1 sprint just for testing and CI of things
<dignifiedquire>
webui on 0.3.10 still runs on ipfs-api@2.1.6
<dignifiedquire>
soo many things need fixing..
<dignifiedquire>
wtf now it works (after I ran 3.10 standalone)

anyone happen to know roughly how far along ipfs.js is at this point?
<fazo>
reit: that would be daviddias :)
<daviddias>
reit: I would say from a scale from 0 to done, it is on "getting very interesting"
<reit>
i like that scale

More useful, if possible, error reporting in case of FUSE would be great. Took me a while to figure out what was wrong.

fazo: what’s up?
<fazo>
I decided more or less what I want my app to be
<dignifiedquire>
cool
<fazo>
if you're interested in talking about it I'd like your opinion
<dignifiedquire>
sure
<fazo>
I can't narrow it down to one thing I want it to do, but it's three things:
<fazo>
1) you share data: wether it's file and folders, a post, a document, or media
<fazo>
2) you seed other people's data that you like, and you discover that data via those people's profiles
<fazo>
3) you build communities (optionally, of course) by joining other people's boards or inviting them to your boards
<fazo>
or commenting stuff
<fazo>
I thought about putting these three points first thing on the landing page
<dignifiedquire>
so, share - discover - connect
<fazo>
so it's very clear what the app is about
<fazo>
yep
<fazo>
then, when eplaining more in detail, I can brag about the cool stuff that it can do because it's distributed :P
<fazo>
I guess you can thing of the app as an interface for IPFS that understands more than files and folder, peeking inside to figure out what they represent
<dignifiedquire>
I would say that makes it a social platform at heart if you want to put it into one thing
<fazo>
and has added social features
<fazo>
yeah it is :)
<fazo>
I want it to make it very flexible in understanding files. I mean, I want users to be able to "star" or "like" stuff that wasn't even published using the app.
<fazo>
what do you thing about this? :)
<dignifiedquire>
that sounds a nice idea yes
<dignifiedquire>
overall
