I got a question regarding the state of the js version: is the pubsub stuff working? I tried various examples ( orbit-db, orbit.chat, ...) and none of them seem to work.

Chrome on OSX
<rklaehn>
Version 60.0.3112.90
<rklaehn>
The UI loads, but it always shows 0 peers
<DuClare>
Maybe nobody else is using it?
<DuClare>
You could launch multiple instances
<DuClare>
It certainly showed 0 peers for me until I asked other people on irc to try it out at the same time
<r0kk3rz>
the js-ipfs it uses is probably out of date
<DuClare>
It's also possible that a firewall or nat prevents it from working properly
<DuClare>
(Does it use TURN?)
<rklaehn>
I was trying opening it in multiple browsers
<DuClare>
Works for me
<DuClare>
(Two tabs in one browser)
<rklaehn>
Which one are you trying? orbit.chat?
<DuClare>
Yes, orbit.chat
<DuClare>
It takes a few seconds for it to find the peer but it works
<rklaehn>
Are you behind a NAT? I am on my DSL connection, which is restrictive but obviously NAT.
<DuClare>
I'm behind a nat yes
<DuClare>
I have to close it before it crashes my browser
<DuClare>
:)
<rklaehn>
OK, for me it is currently just stuck at loading.
<r0kk3rz>
yes beware, it has to potential to melt laptops for some reason
<r0kk3rz>
i should really have a go at updating it
<DuClare>
r0kk3rz: It seems to create a crazy amount of connections (that don't ever go live for real)
<DuClare>
I haven't investigated why
<DuClare>
But if you leave it running for a while, it'll crash firefox
<rklaehn>
The issue is that I would like to see some demo that uses the pubsub functionality from inside the browser. Does not have to be orbit.chat.

The ws transport produces a 403 when calling it with an origin header. Is that intentional? I got /ip4/0.0.0.0/tcp/9999/ws in my Addresses/Swarm
<rklaehn>
This works wscat --connect <myip>:9999
<r0kk3rz>
Noxarivis[m]: it should be possible, but might need some packaging
<rklaehn>
This doesn't: wscat -o http://whatever --connect <myip>:9999

oh ok that sounds less like a block and more like internet routing issues

i haven't been too happy with OVH's routing

<deltab>
you can delete it from your system, and thereby stop providing it to others
<deltab>
srpx: you're not uploading to ipfs as such: you're adding to the ipfs repository on your machine, and others can request it from there
<deltab>
none of the data is sent from your machine until someone requests it
<srpx>
deltab: yep, maybe my mistake for not knowing much about how IPFS works yet, but I assumed as soon as you added something, it relayed it to the proper node on kademlia
<deltab>
only some announcements "I have block Qmssdf76s8d7fsb8erb" etc.
