Nevermind, I see a link to ipfs-senc. You've discussed it several days ago, I've already bookmarked it.

what warning?

Regarding author being unable to maintain it and looking for someone to take over.

mh. I wish you could set a cookie on ipfs.io that would make it redirect you to your local proxy…

there are tons of people having a hard time hosting their content everywhere, paying a lot of money for hosting companies to keep their audio files, videos and pdfs online
<fiatjaf>
not to mention all people who would like to share content somehow (like posting links to big files on their blogs), but don't have a way to host that content and don't want the hassle of registering with and paying hosting companies
<fiatjaf>
I've seen it happening with a not-so-small internet radio-like service on brazil (it had trouble paying for hosting its audio files), and with some homemade podcast hosts

Swedneck, for most people and use cases, their own personal computer is the safest place.
<Swedneck>
so how does ipfs make anything easier then?
<fiatjaf>
it makes serving stuff easier.
<fiatjaf>
just ipfs add then point people to the gateways.
<Swedneck>
oh yeah
<Swedneck>
kinda useless since gateways seem to be slow as hell though
<fiatjaf>
I don't see them being so slow
<fiatjaf>
but never tried with huge files
<Swedneck>
ipfs.swedneck.xyz
<Swedneck>
it takes like 10 minutes to load, if it manages to load at all
<Swedneck>
using my local gateway doesn't change anything
<fiatjaf>
well, ipfs.io is much faster than yours, I think
<fiatjaf>
in a test I just made
<Swedneck>
right, so if it's that absurdly slow on ipfs.io..
<fiatjaf>
I don't understand why
<Swedneck>
it can't even resolve the ipns name on my local gateway lol
<fiatjaf>
you're being unreasonable
<fiatjaf>
ipns don't work anywhere, I'm not talking about it
