<mawe242> a quick dts question: in the sunxi dts files there are references to gpios like "<&pio 7 23 GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH>". I understand that 7 is the pin number on the chip. but where does the 23 come from?
dack has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
Nyuu has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds]
<mawe242> ahh! <&pio 7 23 ...> means 7th bank (PH) and pin 23, so PH23. I think i get it now. sorry for the noise...
<NiteHawk> mawe242: that 7 is not a pin number, but a port group or GPIO "bank" instead. it's only together with the pin number (within the group) that you'd get an actual "GPIO number"
<NiteHawk> mawe242: you got it ;)
<mawe242> NiteHawk: great, thanks! the "* 32" on that page is only relevant for the sysfs interface, not for dts, correct?
<mawe242> sorry, ignore me. i understand the * 32 now
<mawe242> should learn to think before i type
<NiteHawk> correct. it's just the way bank and pin "map" to the gpio numbers - you can also find that in the respective SoC documentation
<mawe242> ok. thanks. and GPIO_ACTIVE_HIGH only means the pin uses the standard setup that the pin voltage is high when GPIO thinks its active?

ricardocrudo has quit [Read error: Connection reset by peer]
<NiteHawk> mawe242: i'm not too familiar with actual .dts setup. you should probably have a look at the linux kernel documentation regarding device tree bindings - e.g. http://lxr.free-electrons.com/source/Documentation/devicetree/bindings/gpio/

<yann|work> I'm trying to run an SDL app on a bPI M1, with GLES2 support. By default, although the opengles2 renderer is reported at runtime, the software one is selected by default, and when I try to force opengles2, SDL fails to initialize it, because of an (uncaught in current SDL hg) error saying "Failed getting OpenGL glGetString entry point"
<yann|work> but glGetString is really present in libGLESv2.so
<yann|work> anyone managed to get GLES or GLES2 to work on the bPI ?
<libv> did you try using our binary drivers howto?
<yann|work> libv: no, I am for now following the starting point at http://forum.lemaker.org/thread-2036-1-1.html, but using the official yocto meta-sunxi repo
<libv> yann|work: then go ask lemaker
<yann|work> well, by official I mean linux-sunxi/meta-sunxi :)
<libv> yann|work: are you using the sunxi 3.4 kernel?
<yann|work> yes
<libv> ok, then follow our binary drivers howto
<yann|work> libv: Mali_binary_driver in the wiki ?
<libv> right, the name changed over the years
<yann|work> ok, diving there, thx
<plaes_> woot.. I have working toolchain again

<wens> plaes: if they are available directly on a usb port, yes
<wens> if they go through a hub chip, or connect to chips directly, only ehci is needed for usb 2.0 stuff
<plaes> ok, so when all the ports and peripherals work, I don't actually have to enable ohci?

<bmeneg> Hello everyone, you guys have any info about NAND support in mainline kernel tree? I mean, is it already fully supported (as a MTD driver)?
<bmeneg> I am using an A20 SoC
solarnetone has quit [Ping timeout: 260 seconds]
<plaes> bmeneg: it works on newer kernels
<bmeneg> plaes: but is it working properly as the boot partition? I mean, to burn an image directly to and boot from it.
<plaes> yes, u-boot supports it
<plaes> you need at least u-boot 2015.10
<plaes> 'NAND SPL driver' ^^^

<mripard> bmeneg: beware that the current support for the NAND usually used is unreliable, and you might lose data
<bmeneg> mripard: you mean for "usually used" the newest kernel version?
<plaes> mripard: could you push your kms branch on github or git.kernel.org?
<mripard> bmeneg: no, I mean the chip used on your board.
<mripard> plaes: I think it is already
<mripard> I have to rebase it and make a few changes anyway, I'll push it when it will be done
<mripard> probbaly not before next week though
<plaes> I couldn't find it
<bmeneg> mripard: wait, I didn't get the point. Are you saying the SoC support for NAND memorries (nand controller) isn't reliable?
<plaes> bmeneg: it hasn't been tested much
<bmeneg> hmmmm...
<plaes> experimental stuff
<mripard> bmeneg: no, I'm saying that the NAND chip on your board is a piece of c**p and we don't have anything to deal with that yet.
<plaes> o_O
<mripard> plaes: is this a surprise ?
jemk has quit [Quit: Lost terminal]
<mripard> we've pretty much always said that
<bmeneg> Wow, interesting.. even because I am facing a lot of problems of this nature..
<mripard> and it's also why no boards enable it.
<bmeneg> mripard: do you have any document or source of information I could read to know more about?
<mripard> about what ?
<bmeneg> "why the NAND chip is so horrible"
<plaes> nice

<swiftgeek> is device-tree being used for u-boot or only passed to kernel ?
<swiftgeek> i have USB port that should act as device, not host (or auto detect as it is OTG), i have no idea where should i fix it for u-boot stage
<swiftgeek> maybe it's just power weird
<swiftgeek> oh just wrong pin then i guess
<swiftgeek> nah it throws errors when connect to host too ;/
