<Lord_Nightmare>
<Lord_Nightmare> typically with 5v and 24v on it, i think. the middle 2 pins are officially undefined, some drives need them nc, some need 5v an some need 12v
<Lord_Nightmare>
<Lord_Nightmare> maybe some need -5v
<ej5>
yeah this board did not have the typical pinout or connector

<andlabs>
oh boy 8" floppies
<andlabs>
did they ever make drives for those things for personal microcomputers other than those early Altairs?
<fseidel>
the PERQ had one
<fseidel>
although that was bordering on not a PC
<fseidel>
given the cost

<Lord_Nightmare>
andlabs: the ohio scientific rackmount computers had a tandon 8" drive which only needs the 5v and 24v, it runs the motor off the dc 24v
<Lord_Nightmare>
unlike most 8" drives which used a separate 120v or 240v AC motor at 50 or 60hz for the spindle
<Lord_Nightmare>
and used 5v for the logic and 24v for the head load and drive lock solenoids
<Lord_Nightmare>
I have a qume dt-8 which has a flaky head load solenoid, it unlatches itself after a bit
<Lord_Nightmare>
the spring for the latch might be worn out, but i suspect there's an issue with failing caps too
<Lord_Nightmare>
or my 5v/24v supply board is not putting out sufficient current

<andlabs>
this is ALMOST the perfect size for my Yamaha CBX-K1
<andlabs>
the bag - 20.5" x 6" x 1.5"
<andlabs>
the keyboard - 20-1/16” x 6-1/8” x 2-3/16” (20.0625” x 6.125” x 2.1875”)
<andlabs>
no one seems to make bags with this form factor at all anymore
<andlabs>
I'm not sure if I want to risk this one or not
<andlabs>
I did find one case that was advertised as specifically being for the CBX-K1, the Chord KB42, but I can't find anybody selling outside the UK, and even then I'm not sure what the product looks like
<cr1901>
what's wrong w/ getting a bigger case?
<andlabs>
I can't find a reasonably sized bigger case
<andlabs>
I can find cases that are more than 2.5x as high (middle dimension)
<andlabs>
maybe I'm missing something
<andlabs>
open to suggestions
<andlabs>
oh and yes, i'm using Internal sizes here, not External
