also update on tha tseller I was asking about: I wound up buying a full diagnostic test harness, a flat SD2IEC (amazingly cheaper than the ""official"" ones), and a PS/2 keyboard adapter

also bought one of commodore4life's atom retro PSUs, which cost as much as the above three combined, because lol

now I just need to find an AV cable of some sort, but I forget what adapters my mini TV has (maybe a VGA adapter for an old dell monitor?)

This is a stretch, but is it possible that when GEMS was developed, the ppl that Sega contracted to develop it RE'd their patches from other games (or Sega provided a list of default patches)?
