<andlabs> also update on tha tseller I was asking about: I wound up buying a full diagnostic test harness, a flat SD2IEC (amazingly cheaper than the ""official"" ones), and a PS/2 keyboard adapter
<andlabs> also bought one of commodore4life's atom retro PSUs, which cost as much as the above three combined, because lol
<andlabs> now I just need to find an AV cable of some sort, but I forget what adapters my mini TV has (maybe a VGA adapter for an old dell monitor?)

<andlabs> update: I went with https://www.retrocomputershack.com/'s surprisingly cheap cables; both the 8-pin and 5-pin versions
<andlabs> so once everything comes in I'll run a diagnositc test on the c64 and we'll see what happens =P
<andlabs> then when I get the cynthCart and the Sequential Model 262 I won't need the therapsid =p

<cr1901_modern> This is a stretch, but is it possible that when GEMS was developed, the ppl that Sega contracted to develop it RE'd their patches from other games (or Sega provided a list of default patches)?
<cr1901_modern> I was listening to the intro theme of Gleylancer tonight, and I could've sworn its bass line was a stock GEMS patch
<cr1901_modern> (but no one in Japan used GEMS)
<cr1901_modern> Gleylancer (linked time): https://youtu.be/_y9lvbLltZ0?t=238 Bass line sounds eerily to... a licensed Garfield game made w/ GEMS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Olv53JdX-eU

<Lord_Nightmare> the people who developed GEMS did not have an accurate or good translation of the japanese ym2612 datasheet, that's for sure
<Lord_Nightmare> they used the sega02.doc which is absolutely insanely wrong all over the place
