<fseidel>
I found the music I was hunting for thanks to the IRC logs, apparently I shared it in this channel and not the one I was searching through

fseidel: I'm fairly confident Ryu Takami is an alias for Ryu Umemoto
<cr1901_modern>
When Kanno Yokihiro and Ryu Umemoto worked together (incl on YU-NO), they used aliases a number of times
<cr1901_modern>
Destiny, and Eve: Burst Error also come to mind
<cr1901_modern>
Hiroyuki Kanno*, oops :(
<cr1901_modern>
Aaaand what the hell do I know? https://vndb.org/s1309 (I'm wrong, ignore me)
<cr1901_modern>
it is true that Hiroyuki and Umemoto used aliases tho
{{}{{}}{{}{{}}}} is now known as enthdegree
<andlabs>
ah yes I would never have thought yu-no
<andlabs>
and I guess we'll never know @ cr1901_modern
<andlabs>
now I want to remake my vgm player if only for ys and yu-no
<andlabs>
gah
<andlabs>
also is there fantranslation of the pc-98 game yet
<andlabs>
yes I know it's an adult game I don't care
<andlabs>
it got a saturn release with more explicit nudity in the intro so
<cr1901_modern>
andlabs: There's been a fan translation since 2011
<cr1901_modern>
it's a bit difficult to get working, but look for "Elf Classics". It worked in 2017 for me anyway.
<ValleyBell>
IIRC the YU-NO translation is for the Windows PC version, but there are patches that add high-quality PC-98 sound/music.
<cr1901_modern>
yea I used the patches
<andlabs>
heh
<andlabs>
but which version is that a port of
<andlabs>
the console version or the original?
<cr1901_modern>
original

<TD-Linux>
slightly off topic but any one have recs for a good bus mouse (e.g. for pc98/microsoft inport)? I have a leaguer international one and the wheels are super flaky
<linkmauve>
Also offtopic, but do you know if there exists a free reimplementation of libbass/libbassmix?

TD-Linux: a microsoft mouse? =P
<andlabs>
linkmauve: no and I'm not sure why there is no open-source source-compatible clone
<andlabs>
or even binary-compatible drop-in replacement
<andlabs>
probably not famous enough *shrug*
<linkmauve>
I’ve just started working on that.
<linkmauve>
Hopefully will help ports of proprietary games to other systems.
<andlabs>
cool
<andlabs>
there apparently is an official linux version that's still freeware
<andlabs>
which probably explains why big companies don't care
<linkmauve>
I feel like I’m close, with Melody’s Escape running with almost all of my system libs (aside from mono itself), I’m now experimenting with building the launcher from scratch.
