ChanServ changed the topic of ##yamahasynths to: Channel dedicated to questions and discussion of Yamaha FM Synthesizer internals and corresponding REing. Discussion of synthesis methods similar to the Yamaha line of chips, Sound Blasters + clones, PCM chips like RF5C68, and CD theory of operation are also on-topic. <cr1901_modern> whitequark: Glad you like :D. I'll tune it up and submit later. Making a pack took a lot out of me/was harder than I thought.
<cr1901_modern> But at least I have the scripts to make it easier next time
<cr1901_modern> whitequark: It's fine if you can't but any chance I could test the Kyrandia rips on the gateway? The VGM commands are finalized if my submission is approved. I still need to change tags
<cr1901_modern> (which I don't think glasgow cares about?)
<andlabs> is whitequark saying things that aren't showing up here
<cr1901_modern> No, I just was very delayed in responding
<protosphere> also it turns out the secret to good scaling with the ossc and x68000 is to enable upsample2x
<protosphere> i somehow missed that before
<KitsuWhooa> cr1901_modern: nice, thank you!

<cr1901_modern> Hey, long time no see ej5 :D. I'm gonna take 3 guesses what you're making: CGA card, MDA card, or Hercules card.
<ej5> why not all of the above?
<cr1901_modern> B/c CGA and Hercules are both a PITA compared to MDA
<cr1901_modern> I mean sure, you could do all of the above, I don't think I would :)
<ej5> the real nasty one is EGA
<cr1901_modern> The original EGA card is like 5 or so IBM custom LSI chips, none of them (AFAIK) actually documented except from the BIOS routines source code listings
<cr1901_modern> But I have a reg-compat clone that I've successfully programmed, so I guess those listings/hardware docs were enough
<andlabs> why not MCGA or Plantronics? :B
<andlabs> also isn't Hercules just MDA with RAM
<cr1901_modern> Hmmm I guess it is. Along with support circuitry to get around the fact that 6845 CRT controller is designed for text mode displays primarily
<andlabs> what even is MCGA
<ej5> it's two gate array chips that implement CGA with an extra 256-color mode
<andlabs> hm
