I notice that the ipfs.io gateway has awful performance lately. Is someone hosting a movie download site or something?
<grey->
well, it is encrypted by default, how would anyone know?
<Codebird>
It's gotten slower to respond. Suggests high load.
<Codebird>
I have a gateway at birds-are-nice.me (http+https) for comparison, and it's a lot faster, as is my local one.
<grey->
perhaps one of the gateway maintainers can better answer your question, I've only begun experimenting with IPFS within a FreeNAS VM; very limited use so far.

AFAIK you won't be able to access the Neocities sites via IPFS right now if you use 0.4.0. Something that they will fix when the time is right.
lidel has joined #ipfs
<grey->
neocities.org seems to load fine; I am guessing you mean the underlying IPFS storage it uses? I have not even tried to test that yet, nor am I sure why I would want to.

hey guys, do u think ipfs will work with zeronet? seems like they got alot of infrastructure already
<grey->
no idea; looks like an orthogonal project.

<grey->
Does FTP work with gopher? That question makes about as little sense as what you just asked.
<computerfreak>
they use bittorrent network right now, i would like to use ipfs instead .. thats the thing
<grey->
. . .
<grey->
does NFS work with CIFS?
<grey->
if you want them both to have the same data, you can sync between them with other tools with the filesystems mounted; maybe you can think about zeronet and IPFS like that?
<grey->
I have not used zeronet, and more or less think anything like BTC is a bad idea.
Magik6k_ is now known as Magik6k
<computerfreak>
ah no i get your anticipation
<computerfreak>
but it shouldnt be too hard to use ipfs as filesystem within the zeronet code, its all opensource so why not try something creative?
<grey->
have fun! Not my interest.
<computerfreak>
u should deffinitly read their code or wiki at least ... great work done
<grey->
I looked at it, I am not going to do more than that.
<computerfreak>
well than i cant do much more :D
<grey->
why don't you try finding the zeronet support channel somewhere.
<computerfreak>
maybe some ipfs dev has more interest in that topic
<computerfreak>
i am in there already
<grey->
I am not an IPFS dev, you may be correct.
<computerfreak>
i know that ÖP
<computerfreak>
since when u know about ipfs_
<computerfreak>
?
<grey->
I consider IPFS as more interesting as perhaps an alternative to Ceph or Lustre.

I have a question about pinning: Does pinning a ipns hash work?
<C-Keen>
also currently I am pinning a hash from my laptop to a machine in the same network and I do see a lot of these on both daemon logs: 19:30:02.609 ERROR swarm2: swarm listener accept error: write tcp 192.168.1.32:4001->192.168.0.205:19524: write: broken pipe swarm_listen.go:128

ipns question... the examples site says "You just successfully published and resolved an ipns entry! Now, there are a few things to note; first, right now, you can only publish a single entry per ipfs node. This will change fairly soon."
<cpacia>
Has multiple entires been implemented? If not yet, how many entries would be allowed per node?
<noffle>
dignifiedquire: talking about feelings is hard; fewer scientific facts to rest on
<noffle>
cpacia: you can effectively get multiple entries by publishing an entry that links to many other documents
<dignifiedquire>
noffle: yes, but more important than ever (I feel lol)
calavera has joined #ipfs
<cpacia>
noffle: i realize that but if you edit one document in that linked file you break the ipns link and lose whatever caching you built up. multiple ipns entries could make it so one change doesn't necessarily break the link to everything else.

thanks. was there are thinking behind how many would be allowed to be published if it's implemented?
