whyrusleeping: i'm using iptbutil in a TestMain to set up a ipfs testbed for unit tests. seems to be working fairly well, though i'm finding that sometimes the IpfsKillAll doesn't seem to actually kill all of the testbed nodes at the end. If I try to run a test right after the previous one finished, not all of the nodes manage to start up, seemingly due to port unavailability, maybe? hard to say exactly. the nodes that don't start don't
<apiarian>
actually have a daemon.stdout/stderr . anyway, i was able to work around this by adding some randomization to the InitCfg.PortStart. seems to reliably start up now. hopefully i'm not polluting my process space with a bunch of floating ipfs daemons

taaem (IRC): it works as expected in the browser ;) but im not sure yet,how it works ^ only JS ?
<ckwaldon1>
How useful would a service for associating human-readable names and also metadata (license, file type, etc) with IPFS hashes be? To what extent has that already been done?
<apiarian>
ckwaldon1: pretty darn useful i would think. ipfs search would be handy
<taaem>
computerfreak[m]: the web interface probably, the hwhole thing is based on http://matrix.org/
ZaZ has quit [Client Quit]

yeah i know, just reading it

not sure yet if it needs servers or not (only browser)
<computerfreak[m]>
looks like it needs some kind of domain names at least

apiarian: My team is thinking about prototyping something, but we probably don't have the resources to prototype a fully distributed system. We were thinking of building IPFS objects that formed the data structure for searching and then simply building a centralized system to manage them. If people found that useful, the management layer could be reworked to be decentralized.

<apiarian>
ckwaldon1: i'm suggesting that you look in the issues for things about indexing and search and metadata
<ckwaldon1>

So you are telling how to register it with my dns. But I'm trying to understand how naming is working inside IPSF

So for example when I edit file... hash changes... how make sure that people will have access to updated file

richardlitt: Depends on the site. If it's a simple site, then the use of wget with appropriate flags will work. But if it's an complicated site, one that spans servers, depends on script, or is badly-crafted, the process can be more complicated.
