<keesj> what do you guys use when you want /need to flash spi directly?
<keesj> I normally end up using flashrom (with buspirate or similar) but that is most of the time *very* slow
<keesj> part of it is flashrom itself (that want to first copy the data and other thing I deam not needed)
<whitequark> i use this device https://github.com/GlasgowEmbedded/Glasgow, it's similar to buspirate but quite a bit faster
<keesj> and then some python code ?
<ZirconiumX> She wrote the entire stack for it, so yeah
* jn__ uses flashrom + stm32-vserprog at 10MHz or something
<keesj> flashrom does work most of the time for me but insists on first copying all the data first and similar making it 1/2 as fast as I would like
<keesj> (or you need to create dummy files/ partition) if you want to flash only a small part of the chip)
<keesj> flashrom supports it and there might be also alternative software for it

<adamgreig> keesj: i built https://github.com/adamgreig/ffp which is specialised for flash and ice40 programming, it's pretty fast but a bit niche

<keesj> adamgreig: looks quite nice.. is that a usb-c connector?
<adamgreig> Yea, but without any SS pins
<keesj> this is the first time I was able to open a kicad project and not get any "remap symbols" ! great work
<keesj> (and few components) ..
<keesj> adamgreig: I odereded the boards from oshpark and will give your project a try

<felix_> keesj: flashrom with a raspberry pi works great. you'd want to specify the spispeed parameter though; if not, it just uses the default speed which might indeed be quite low
<kc8apf> keesj: After using Dediprog SF100 at many jobs, I bought one for home. Works with flashrom
