I am new to this Github thing so I don't have my head wrapped around it 100%. But I have already got the ASOP JB sources downloaded to my linux virtual machine and whited to know what else I would have to do to merge the CM10 and Teamhacksung Repos to the already downloaded ASOP I have. :-)

Maybe if y'all know of a guide?

Hi all
<midasza>
I am having a problem with any cm9 after 0727 on the SII - no APN settings. It doesn't make any difference if I install over a working cm9 or do a factory reset and install. I see I also cannot manually add APN settings either? I have tried rebooting, reinstalling nothing works. Go back to 0727 and it's perfect. Any ideas anyone?

Interesting. My i9100 won't recognize one of my usb ports as an USB per-se, but rather as as charger. I tought the problem was the port itself, but my Nexus 7 works ok with it.
<Thiagovfar>
It's one of those ports that provide power while the laptop is off. I guess it has something to do with that.
<Shamisen>
my i777 doesn't work with MTP or mass storage anymore period
<Thiagovfar>
Shamisen: wow
<Shamisen>
its cool as long as i dont have to flash back to stock i guess :<
<Thiagovfar>
mine works, but I have to switch the port on the laptop.
<Thiagovfar>
It's one of those new usb ports that provide power, even when the computer is off. I can't let anything plugged into that, as it will slowly drain the laptop battery (not even a keyboard!).
Motogeekchris has quit [Remote host closed the connection]

<Shamisen>
that USUALLY only happens when it's overheating tho
<Thiagovfar>
That is a real issue, You cannot trust "Download mode" to install roms on your device

can someone clarify something for me? on the emmc bugged devices (such as galaxy note), it says never to wipe or flash or factory reset while on a stock ics kernel or rom. Flash to GB first. But isnt flashing to GB also dangerous if you are on a ics kernel?
<addi>
Kenji, hopefully. if that doesn't, then nothing will and late updates will be second nature to Android always :p
<mongi>
addi: yeah, but i have a i9100, what sucks more, and i9100g it's not selled here =/

flash to GB from Odin/Heimdall first

that isn't the same as wiping data

mongi, um, i9100g has weaker processor + GPU, so you're better off (unless you count the fact that I9100G has CM10 with hwcomposer) :p
<chieftex>
addi - ok, but what if you flash an ics from odin instead? how is that different?

=///
<addi>
chieftex, it's different as in it's official flashing

thats what worries me

but wait, Odin/Heimdall wipe data by flashing an empty data file, not by deleting stuff, so maybe that's different

well from my understanding, the issue is the kernel sending an emmc_erase command

so what i want to know is, if you flash while on one of the affected kernels, doesnt it mean it will always send this command?
<mongi>
what about the lg's phone? :p

you dind't talk abou them addi :p

<Espenfjo>
in that order?
<bbqbot>
derp
<Espenfjo>
:P
<addi>
that I'm not sure of :p
<Kenji>
when the hw composer doesn't work in cm10 for the s2 does that mean none of the butter stuff in jb works?
<Thracky>
correct.
<Espenfjo>
hwcomposer is somewhat working
<Espenfjo>
It is working in a way that I do not know what is not working
<koud>
for linux mint should I run MATE or Cinnamon?
<Kenji>
but stuff like the vsync, and the new touch even pipeline that is there? i assume that has nothing to do with the hwcomposer?
<Thracky>
koud, single or multi monitor?
<koud>
laptop with sometimes external monitor
<Thracky>
mate then
<koud>
ok thanks :)
<koud>
or maybe XFCE version? :P
<Kenji>
touch event*
<Thracky>
heh I just installed MATE yesterday
<Thracky>
It's awesome
<Thracky>
I'll probably use this and win about 50/50
<addi>
i installed Mint with Cinnamon an hour ago to try it out, went back to Windows in 5 minutes :p
<chieftex>
addi - " after having a quick look at the brick cases, all are having one thing in common- they tried to go to GB ROM via PC odin"
<koud>
I wonder how I will feel as a 100% ubuntu unity user :P
<addi>
chieftex, o_0
<Espenfjo>
koud: MATE
<chieftex>
yeah exactly - its hard to make sense of it
<Thracky>
lol, I'm just freaking impressed all my stuff works, had to tweak something to get my bt mouse/keyboard working initially though
<Espenfjo>
Kenji: vsync is in place-ish, patches for it on gerrit atleast
<addi>
koud, i just don't think the desktop on Mint matches Windows. but that's just me.
<Thracky>
but HDMI audio worked right away
<addi>
it's customizable, but I still prefer Windows.
<mongi>
xubuntu!!!
<koud>
by this time I have forgot how to use windows
<Thracky>
Main reason I'll go back to windows is gaming.
<Thracky>
but I think for everything else I'll use mint for now
<mongi>
and laptop battery consumiption...
<Thracky>
well, my laptop runs win only cause I have a 120 gig ssd heh
<koud>
sounds like alot :P
<mongi>
linux in my laptop use battery like water
kalpik has joined #teamhacksung-support
<koud>
I ran both windows and linux on 60gb ssd :P
<Thracky>
a win 7 install with all the latest updates is huge
<koud>
now I run only linux on 120gb and feels like it is unlimited space :P
<Kenji>
Espenfjo: ok
<addi>
Thracky, i use Windows for gaming, for using IrfanView, and for just a better desktop interface that works for me :P
<Thracky>
add a couple games in there, and it can get tight
<mongi>
i don't see that much, only if you are on ssd
<addi>
but once Linux starts getting all the games, I won't mind shifting, haha
<mongi>
buy a hd 1 tb and no worries
<addi>
mongi, i bought one just a week ago :p
<Thracky>
no way am I ever going back to a regular HD in my laptop heh
<Thracky>
it has usb 3 anyways
<koud>
my only computer is a laptop so not much for gaming
<koud>
even though I have developed some games myself on it :P
<mongi>
ssd are still really expansive
<mongi>
a lot a lot
<addi>
Thracky, i was going to get SSD this month, but wanted to retire my two old SATA HDDs, so got a 1 TB HDD for now
<addi>
now SSD two months later :p
<Thracky>
both my ssd's I got through intel retail edge heh
<Thracky>
good prices at the time
<mongi>
and their space are really low yet
<Thracky>
that's fine, on my desktop I have 2x500 GB sata and a 2 GB usb 3 external along with the 180 gb ssd
<Thracky>
plus a 750 gig hooked up to my boxee and a 320 gig hooked up to my wii
<Thracky>
and the 640 gig original drive from my laptop in a usb 3 enclosure heh
<mongi>
and in linux too, my laptop's cooler runs like usain bolt
<mongi>
and keep making big noise
<Thracky>
I'd rather have a huge NAS though :P
<mongi>
dont know why
<addi>
Thracky, I was keeping my data on a 500GB SATA II HDD, and on two 160 GB SATA I disks with 2 MB of cache, and a 120 GB laptop HDD with 8 MB of cache. decided to retire the three slow suckers before getting SSD :p
<Thracky>
lol yeah probably a good idea
<addi>
oh, and data on 500 GB external USB 2.0 HDD too, which is porn and games and stuff :p
<Thracky>
I have a couple IDE drives sitting around collecting dust still
<Thracky>
but they still work
<Thracky>
just my new mobo has no IDE controller :P
<mongi>
porn haha
<addi>
mongi, around 30 GB of porn I have not even looked at for months, haha
<mongi>
long time i don't download porn =/
<addi>
i've never downloaded it, it's all come from friends' HDDs, haha
<mongi>
hahaha
<mongi>
i'll download one today just to...
<chieftex>
what happens if you use a GB kernel on ICS?
<addi>
the ROM doesn't boot :)
<addi>
but you do that. flash a custom GB kernel on phone. it won't boot, but you can enter recovery and flash CM
<addi>
can do that*
<chieftex>
aha
<chieftex>
that makes sense
<chieftex>
The safest way to get away from ICS is:
<chieftex>
Use PC Odin or Heimdall to flash a safe Gingerbread kernel with working CWM (NOT a full firmware package, and DO NOT mess with repartitioning), such as a Gingerbread CF-Root release. From there you can wipe and then flash whatever you want.
<chieftex>
because I read this: ""

sorry for double post
<addi>
yeah, there you go :)
<chieftex>
thats basically what you said huh
<addi>
yeah :p
<chieftex>
", but you can enter recovery and flash CM" did you mean cwm?
<bbqbot>
derp
<Espenfjo>
CWM is one example of a good recovery you can use, yes

does triangleaway work on the note? :P
<Jiangyi>
That was my second question. lol
<chieftex>
Yes i care about the counter, and yes triangle away does work :)
<Jiangyi>
OK, then flash through ODIN. We'll just reset it later. xD
<chieftex>
id prefer not to increase the counter, and not use triangle away
<Jiangyi>
chieftex: It doesn't increase the counter.
<Jiangyi>
btw, I'm referring to Chainfire's CF-Root thread.
<chieftex>
yes i downloaded that
<chieftex>
thats the original GB stock rom
<Jiangyi>
OK, flash that through Odin, and then you should be good to go.
<Jiangyi>
:-P
<chieftex>
Since I am on stock (with no recovery method such as cwm), doesnt it mean technically stock to custom rom (the first time ) is the most dangerous flash, as if something goes wrong you're doomed?
<Thracky>
there's always odin
<Thracky>
so long as you can get into download mode
<Jiangyi>
chieftex: No, GB is completely safe.
<chieftex>
and can you always get into download mode?
