<whyrusleeping> timthelion: revoke, no. history, not built in, but you can always have a merklelink to the previous revision in the object you publish
<whyrusleeping> once you give someone a key, they have it. There arent any ACLs
<whyrusleeping> that said, we're looking into building more complex systems that allow the keyholder to designate other keys as 'allowed publishers'

<ehmry> its me again, I'd like to make a content address storage system based on IPLD, so an IPLD service that would be block-backed or a proxy to an IPFS node. I would like to ignore as much of IPFS as possible, yet strictly conform to IPLD standards. With that in mind, what is the most future proof binary-encoding for IPLD? I see documents that reference Protobuf and CBOR, and I would prefer CBOR, but I see that IPFS block hashes seem
<ehmry> to refer to Protobuf
rasovica has quit [Quit: http://www.kiwiirc.com/ - A hand crafted IRC client]
<lgierth> CBOR
<lgierth> protobuf sucks
gts has joined #ipfs
<ehmry> yea, protobuf is too complicated, but If I choose to store CBOR blocks exclusively, I would need some translator that would fetch and re-encode protobuf DAGs?
<lgierth> ipfs dag put can parse them
<lgierth> --input-enc
<lgierth> and then it'll store them as CBOR

<whyrusleeping> dear anyone-who-is-getting-too-many-fd-errors-today,

<whyrusleeping> we're working on a fix here: https://github.com/ipfs/go-ipfs/pull/4288
<MrSparkle> why is a fix needed though?
pat36 has joined #ipfs
<whyrusleeping> er, a little more context:
<whyrusleeping> we don't close connections to peers once they are opened
<whyrusleeping> so this means that as your node stays online
<whyrusleeping> you will eventually be connected to most of the peers in the network
<whyrusleeping> which causes an excess of resource consumption
<MrSparkle> too many peers for any sane network to handle ok
<MrSparkle> never a problem back when 4 nodes
<MrSparkle> peers / nodes
<whyrusleeping> heh, nope
<MrSparkle> welp
<whyrusleeping> not sure what caused the sudden spike
<whyrusleeping> but its certainly lighting our bootstrap nodes on fire

<lgierth> hey lidel
<lgierth> i just came up with another firefox thing to do :D
<whyrusleeping> redfish: its still pending review, but its running on mars now

<whyrusleeping> huh, interesting
<victorbjelkholm> Yeah, popular guy who recently starting hyping ipfs a lot. Not sure if the pattern of more/less nodes appearing during the day in waves fit yet though
