<angelsl> does anyone have any idea how to debug a recovery? atm i can get it to boot and work, the only thing is graphics does not work; i get a blank screen
<angelsl> recovery.log has nothing useful
<angelsl> it's a exynos 4412 device, i took the graphics.c from the smdk4412-common device project
<angelsl> i have no idea why it doesn't work though.. https://github.com/angelsl/cm-android_device_lenovo_stuttgart

<stickyboy> SlashV: `brunch cm_i9300-userdebug` :)
<stickyboy> If you haven't built for i9300 before, you should probaby `lunch cm_i9300-userdebug` and then run the script to extract proprietary file first...
<SlashV> That script has issues (for me)
<stickyboy> SlashV: Not surprising. :)
<stickyboy> They're out of date sometimes.
<SlashV> Was just wondering why the nightlies build fine, but not my own.
<SlashV> but ok thx, will fix things by hand then
<Zhenech> use the muppets repo?
<stickyboy> SlashV: Yah, the secret is that the build server uses a pre-built vendor repo. http://github.com/TheMuppets/

<CoreISP> Yes the zip is fine, all that is fine, the only problem is something in this edition that doesn't work with the Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 causing it to dump that error. It always does that on each and every install or update :) It's a realllyyy stupid little thing to modify, which pretty much makes it all the more retarded I forgot what to change :')

<CoreISP> slick_rick: Indeed, hadn't seen that for a long time until rooting the tab.

imneveral0ne has joined #teamhacksung
<rhcp> any of you build CM with SELINUX before?
<CoreISP> slick_rick: if that's the one it officialy supports, then why is it bad? heh =D
<CoreISP> rhcp: Why on earth would you include SELinux?
<rhcp> I want it?

<rhcp> having it?
<detule> sure
<rhcp> mind a pm?
<detule> that's fine
<rhcp> thanks
<paulk-desktop> rhcp, lol, you're not gonna have SELinux working unless you do some serious changes to a lot of stuff
<paulk-desktop> Android uses unix permissions only
<rhcp> if you mean for "android" in gerneal
<paulk-desktop> oh boy
<paulk-desktop> you can probably merge all this
<paulk-desktop> good luck though
<rhcp> it would be cool
<rhcp> you must admit
<paulk-desktop> I'm no SELinux fan
<paulk-desktop> At the time I was using Fedora, it only caused me countless hours of waisted time
<paulk-desktop> so I stick with unix permissions

<rhcp> framework base stuff
<codeworkx> sbrissen: pls test if this works for you http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/30159/
<rhcp> i assume you got RIL by your commit :P
<CoreISP> paulk-desktop: Agreed, SELinux sucks and doesn't actually serve much of a (security) purpose.
<rhcp> works on android
<rhcp> its a NSA must
<rhcp> if you carry an android
<Espenfjo> heh
<Espenfjo> selinux is of really great security purposes, atleast for server usage

Kaik541 has joined #teamhacksung
<rhcp> their seandroid is diff though
<rhcp> the common version can be bypassed. same trick doesn't work on an official phone
<CoreISP> Espenfjo: Like what? :') What in SELinux can you not protect by other means without the annoying extra complications SELinux is going to give you? :P
<Espenfjo> Auditing
<Espenfjo> How to verif that no one has logged on and done anything they werent supposed to do
<Espenfjo> *verify
<CoreISP> SELinux is by far not the only application that can give you that intel :) Plus, if they can do something they werent supposed to do doesn't it kinda defeat the purpose? o0
<Espenfjo> well.. not really..
<Espenfjo> We are a major hosting provider with over 10k server. For both government and banking institutions. There are a lot of people having root access to various servers for various reasons. They will for example have the need to restart an application or something else related in day to day operations
ankitkv has joined #teamhacksung
<Espenfjo> But the operations people should not have access to read this/that, run this/that etc.
<Espenfjo> sure.. You have auditd, tripwire, syslogging etc.
<Espenfjo> But selinux solves all your problems, without creating any new
<CoreISP> a lot of people having root access already sounds like a major security problem to me lol
<Espenfjo> When you have this amount of servers and customer, only having _1_ person that have access to critical servers is a bigger problem
<Espenfjo> One of my old redhat teachers once said that god kills a gitten every time a sysadmin disables Selinux.. Now.. An amount of years later I tend to agree with that statement
<CoreISP> One is usually always a problem unless it's a private system, but "a lot" doesn't exactly sound like a right thing either. Imho, logging in as root on such infrastructures should be avoided as much as possible anyway.
<CoreISP> Well I killed many many kittens then, for some applications: running SELinux is simply not an option because it will directly interfere... SELinux is not exactly the golden application that will only do good :P
<Espenfjo> It takes a lot of work enabling selinux on a server, yeah. But done correct it is an immense powerfull tool
<CoreISP> It's not like I don't run it on any server, far from it; but to state that SELinux is a mechnism that doesn't wreak heavoc and gently works along properly with each and every server application would be an outright lie really.
<Espenfjo> Yeah, I agree on that. It is immensly powerfull, but you really need to know what you are doing.
<Espenfjo> And even then some app will do something unexpected and derp
<CoreISP> Yeah it has one of the worst configuration stuff in the IT world imo lol
<CoreISP> Take OpenVZ as a good example of incompatibility with SELinux by the way, though that is probably more a problem with the OpenVZ developers than a full issue with SELinux although I cannot deny SELinux is indeed quite a problem.
<Espenfjo> Yeah, stuff like openvz, uml etc. would cause issues I can imagine
<Espenfjo> Luckily we only run vmware :) (And some kvm here and there)
<CoreISP> both vmware and kvm are awesome
<CoreISP> Been working with OpenVZ for a bit while testing a new VPS platform
<CoreISP> But holy shit it's nothing more than a fancy chroot...
<CoreISP> Switching to KVM was an absolute breeze.
<Espenfjo> Yeah
<codeworkx> rhcp: yep, it's up now
<rhcp> nice :)
<rhcp> have you had anyone test on a T889?
<rhcp> TMO version
<codeworkx> not yet
<rhcp> msg me a link
<rhcp> ill try now
<codeworkx> no time to upload
<codeworkx> GF is waiting
<rhcp> got a manifest?
<rhcp> ill build
<CoreISP> Wondering about one thing Espenfjo. If someone has root, they can disable SELinux lol, how have you patched that?
<Espenfjo> They cant
<codeworkx> rhcp: stuff from teamhacksung and http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/30159/
<rhcp> got a manifest you can link?'
<Espenfjo> If you run in enforcing mode they cant disable
<rhcp> pastebin )
<CoreISP> Espenfjo: Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you simply modify it's configuration to be permissive or disabled instead of enforcing, which root can do, it can be, plus temporary disabling it with gear like setenforce or echo 0 >/selinux/enforce commands as an example... no?
<CoreISP> brb
<Espenfjo> CoreISP: root will have to be sysadm_r then. If you remove that you will have to disable/enable selinux as a kernel parameter at boot

<paulk-desktop> you guys interested by a free camera lib for galaxy s2?
<paulk-desktop> seems to be pretty standard V4L2 after all…
<stickyboy> OPEN ALL THE THINGS!...?

<paulk-desktop> nice!
<stickyboy> Totally. We share a kernel with I9100 too, which is really convenient.
<paulk-desktop> same cameras (M5MO and S5K5BAFX ?)
<Espenfjo> paulk-desktop: m5mo should be preatty easy. both the insignal reference source use it, and afaik. it should be quite similar to crespo/nexus s
<paulk-desktop> I tried the insignal code as-is and it didn't work, so I assumed there was some more magic
<paulk-desktop> so I started from scratch and now I find myself implementing crespo libcamera step by step
<Espenfjo> :)
<paulk-desktop> though there might be some magic later, I'm not quite done
<paulk-desktop> (just got my first frame out of the device today, so I'm optimistic)
<Espenfjo> :) its raw jpeg isnt it?
<paulk-desktop> frame as in preview frame
<paulk-desktop> so NV12
