<RonWhoCares> lanefu: I just did a bunch of reading. Appears it is the Kernel and simply buing a USB device is easiest
<tparys> to be fair, it's probably not the kernel, and rather the DTB missing a few things. there's been multiple posts on the forum with the I2S clocks appear to be misconfigured on multiple RK3399 boards
<tparys> My NanoPi M4V2 required some playing around with ALSA / PulseAudio settings before I got anything, but audio over HDMI does work for me
<lanefu> RonWhoCares: trying to use analog audio jack?
<lanefu> and yeah as tparys sound is hard lol
<tparys> I have not been successful getting the audio jack working on mainline kernel, though I've seen reports that it seems to work with legacy vendor versions
<lanefu> man we need like a masterclass of device tree videos
<tparys> I think Tony Mac was suggested as someone who might be able to figure it out, but I'm not sure if he's gotten the time to really dig in yet
<lanefu> yeah he's been busy and also working on some other projects
<lanefu> i need to shadow him
<tparys> and sadly, I understand the Zynq way better than the RK3399

<[TheBug]> actually
<[TheBug]> if its an rk3399 device
<[TheBug]> most likely the ground volume is too low for you to hear from the output
<[TheBug]> I found even using manual commands to jack the volume up over 200%
<[TheBug]> I could get audio out but by the time it was able to be heard
<[TheBug]> it was all warped sounding
<[TheBug]> so my bet if you are on rk3399 and trying to get audio out of analog is its there just audio volume super duper low
<lanefu> rebooting forum server in a minute or two
<lanefu> k forum is back up

<ArmbianTwitter> @TonyMac_32 (Thomas McKahan): Before I go down a rabbit hole, am I correct in assuming the Ubuntu packaged libusb on ARM does nothing? 🤔. libusb_open_device_with_vid_pid() always returns null, even while lsusb shows the device. Trying to get @LoveMHz vnproch55x working on @armbian #linux https://tinyurl.com/yfgba7sl (13s ago)
<ArmbianTwitter> @kprasadvnsi (Kali Prasad): @TonyMac_32 @LoveMHz @armbian You are not alone in this rabbit hole :p https://tinyurl.com/ye8btd5s (28s ago)
