martinayotte: are you seeing this AR-749 ?
<ArmbianHelper>
AR-749 [Bug] "Allwinner A20 bootloops on 5.11.y / 2021.04" reported by Igor Pecovnik at 2021-05-16. Status: To Do

<Macer>
good afternoon
<Macer>
i am using armbian focal on my pinebook pro. just a bit curious why the background won't change.
<IgorPec>
macer, good afternoon ... its a bug. not feature
<Macer>
seems so lol
<IgorPec>
we already fix it, so future release won't have this problem
<Macer>
oh ok. cool. i'll wait for it to be pushed. i haven't really tested it yet but i know people in pine64 had said there was some awkwardness with the pcie connection with sleeping but there was a patch for uboot/fw to fix it. was this already implemented into armbian?
<IgorPec>
no idea, don't have pinebook pro
<IgorPec>
we mainly have all those low level fixes
<Macer>
the battery consumption overall seems better than manjaro
<IgorPec>
nice to hear. some people around are using it as a daily driver, but nobody used manjaro long enough - one boot - and voila :)
<Macer>
no offense to them but manjaro leaves things to be desired
<Macer>
the sleep issue is a big one but that isn't necessarily a manjaro issue. it is a pine64/rk issue
<IgorPec>
well, it is. manjaro is pine64 partner
<Macer>
yes. they landed on manjaro for both the pinebook and pinephone
<Macer>
personally i think ubuntu touch was better along even though all the pinephone operating systems / mobile ui have such a long way to go
<IgorPec>
they are in this since years
<IgorPec>
well, ubuntu is more problematic due to not using most recent sw
<IgorPec>
arch / manjaro don't have issues with this
<Macer>
yes. ubuntu touch is incredibly dated.
<IgorPec>
and you have to sacrifice features to gain stability
<Macer>
UBPorts took it over but without that canonical money... it seems like opensolaris/openindiana after oracle
<IgorPec>
both you can't have
<IgorPec>
UBports is unrelated to canonical i thnik
<Macer>
it is
<Macer>
they simply took over the project after canonical abandoned it
<IgorPec>
i met few people from both in person few years back
<IgorPec>
don't know that much about, but they are more in mobile linux things
<IgorPec>
which we don't deal much with
<Macer>
i am sure they are a different beast. especially when trying to make it a pseudo phone / desktop
<Macer>
maemo was the closest to doing it right, but then nokia went away :( but armbian on pbp seems overall better to use imo
<IgorPec>
yeah, but until there will be Allwinner A64 based Pinephone as the only device ... useless
<IgorPec>
nokia ... oh
<IgorPec>
bring memories
<Macer>
<3 nokia :(
<Macer>
N900 and E7 were some of the best devices ever made

haha. no no, it has ICs :)
<IgorPec>

<sunshavi>
n900 on my hand. I still use it as mobile terminal
<Macer>
sunshavi, yah. i sold my last one on ebay quite a long time ago. about the time i decided to give up on the non-mainstream phones and just went with an iphone
<Macer>
i am a bit disappointed that the newer windows phones did not make it anywhere. MS really dropped the ball on that.
<nekomancer[m]>
/me have Nokia N9300i on table nead bed. It duties as alarm clock.

<Macer>
too bad nokia never really took it seriously consideringn the n770 was probably quite a bit ahead of iphones
<nekomancer[m]>
fsck capitalists!
<Macer>
ah well.. let me see what happens when i put this thing to sleep for a while. hopefully it resumes without issue.

@lanefu (Lane Jennison): Behold @armbian running as VM with KVM Accelerated and virtio running on our @worksonarm host. Built with our build tools. Still using uboot too https://t.co/ft3D62v8Fhhttps://tinyurl.com/yz377e2p (17s ago)
<sunshavi>
PP with maemo-leste could be really pretty good. Nothing has beaten n900 until now
<sunshavi>
I loved the dpad on n8x0
<Macer>
kind of a stupid thing but i sure can't seem to find an emoji picker for armbian focal
