wading through kernel config, uuuugh. so, on x86 having config_nr_cpus higher than 64causes a performance hit, we have it set at 256. I'm going to try 16 since we don't have any 16 core processors around in our builds as yet
<Tony_mac32>
I don't know if ARM has the same issue, but making an array for 148 non-existent processors seems extreme anyway
<Tony_mac32>
248*
<nekomancer[m]>
why should be more than real threads? 4,6,8 — up to 16
<Tony_mac32>
no idea, but it's at 256 (maybe a default value)

I had some random stuff still in my build that may not have belonged there, let me try another build and make sure what I have.
<Tony_mac32>
OMG ok give me a few
<c0rnelius>
mainline on the pi4 almost kind of works now.
<c0rnelius>
its still well... a pi. but... funny.
<Tony_mac32>
lol
<[TheBug]>
funny haha or funny lame?
<[TheBug]>
j/k lol
<[TheBug]>
anyways
<c0rnelius>
combo of both I'd say. But hey! at least its bootable and wifi works.
<c0rnelius>
i wouldn't call home about it or anything. lets just say that.

<c0rnelius>
rockin that rc6 goodness!
<Tony_mac32>
never touched a Pi4, don't plan to. The 3 murdered my interest in that entire series of product
<c0rnelius>
I didn't plan on getting one, but was helping out someone else whom was looking for a pure debian aarch64 experience on it. So at the end of the day I just said screw it and got one. I don't even use it for anything other than testing kernels and diff builds on it.
<IgorPec>
why are you folks so obssessed with pur debian experience? :)
<Tony_mac32>
Pure Debian. Pure 2016
<c0rnelius>
I didn't realize it was an obsession?
<Tony_mac32>
There are those out there obsessed
<IgorPec>
ok, perhaps that is too strong word, but still
<c0rnelius>
just no frills build is all
<lanefu>
yeah i was talking to somebody on the crunch-on-arm discord
<Tony_mac32>
I can def. see not having a Raspbian, there's a lot of stuff in there
<lanefu>
and they were all excited about setting up u-boot uefi and installing plain debian
<IgorPec>
yeah, raspbian is different
<Werner>
Nobody likes bloatware I guess
<lanefu>
yeah like ARMBIAN_MINIMAL bloat
<lanefu>
:P
<IgorPec>
haha
<lanefu>
like you can run top. and it only takes half your screen
<lanefu>
maybe less
<Tony_mac32>
OK, so I am compiling another try at the audio, if you don't hear from me for a while you know what happened. :P
<IgorPec>
keeping fingers crossed
<lanefu>
Tony_mac32: sweet.. i'm holding off on rebasing
<IgorPec>
if we fix this audio, merge it at once ;)
<Tony_mac32>
ROFL
<c0rnelius>
my only grip with Armbian is Network Manager, But i understand the need for it to be there.
<IgorPec>
we might find another problem which would prevent that ;)
<IgorPec>
yeah, NM is evil we need
<c0rnelius>
its like my only grap with minimal ubuntu is netplan.
<IgorPec>
netplan, what's that ? :)
<c0rnelius>
something horrid
<c0rnelius>
netplan.io
<lanefu>
its also kinda awesome
<Tony_mac32>
the patchset was split up into 3-4 sections due to how it was imported, so some boards have audio and some don't, unfortunately the ones with are not ones we support directly (VIM/the p212 eval doard)
