<nekomancer[m]> where to get nightly image for rock64?
Tenkawa has joined #armbian
<IgorPec> morning :)
<IgorPec> nekomancer[m]: where did you search so far?
<Tenkawa> greetings
<IgorPec> hi
<Tenkawa> I get new inet service today. on my hotspot atm so I apologize for my random disconns
* nekomancer[m] just at last found missed rock64 and wants to run nightly
<IgorPec> np
<nekomancer[m]> lost pet
<IgorPec> did you find nightly images?
<Tenkawa> I discovered how low service i had so I had it provisioned up massively
<Tenkawa> unfortunately they changed the dslams and such at midnight or so and my old service already off
<nekomancer[m]> yes, IgorPec , sorry
<Tenkawa> midnight reprovisioning and boom there went my connection
<Tenkawa> lol
<Tenkawa> then again my equip was 10+ years old already too so that alone needed replaced
<IgorPec> once you setup things, you can run one armbian mirror :)
<Tenkawa> heheheh with the plan I got i probably could lol
<IgorPec> i am providing one and don't even notice that its beeing used
<Tenkawa> something in the neighborhood of 100mbs
<Tenkawa> (yes I like good connections)
<Tenkawa> and I ended up paying next to barely more than what I am now because I hadnt shopped in so long and they bundled with my other services etc, longtime customer, etc
<IgorPec> i also have to renew my bundle, currently having no bundle, just service
<IgorPec> i am also 20+ years their customer
<Tenkawa> yeah that helps
<Tenkawa> (as long as you like them as your provider etc
<IgorPec> yeah, they are somehow ok, i might have some issue with their backbone connection, but until i won't do some reserach i am not sure
<Tenkawa> it is come and gone... depends on your locational needs
<IgorPec> i want fast connection to my main servers, the rest i don't care

<nekomancer[m]> IgorPec: nightly images for rock have initial root/1234? I just did first boot and have password icorrect on usb/hdmi login
<IgorPec> not possible
<IgorPec> did you repeate the password ?
<IgorPec> root 1234, then you are asked to change it right away ...
* HerculeP also often forgot to enter the current pw
* nekomancer[m] damned
<nekomancer[m]> aha. it boots from emmc instead sdcard :(
* nekomancer[m] hope it will boot from sdcard if it present.
<nekomancer[m]> is it possible to set "boot from emmc if no sdcard and from sdcard if it present"?
<IgorPec> this is not a problem of armbian, but rockchip
<IgorPec> emmc has higher boot priority
<nekomancer[m]> remove emmc — the one way to boot from sdcard? Ok, it's possible.

<[TheBug]> nekomancer[m]: write uboot to emmc and set the env variables to boot from sdcard?
<nekomancer[m]> then it brokes when I remove sdcard. Not what I dream for.
<[TheBug]> um then you simply stop uboot and change the vbariables to whatever device you want to boot?
<[TheBug]> variables*
<[TheBug]> I mean it isn't allwinner so you are not gonna get so lucky it sounds ;p

<Heisath> Evening, Igor you there?
<Heisath> is there anything application like to send data to the armbian testing boards?
<Heisath> The chip on there speaks i2c so I've been using I2C tools for now. Is there someone working on it?
<Heisath> Also the MCP23017 seems to have a cold soldered pin. I had to keep it pressed down to the board to access it - will resolder it.
<IgorPec> hej
<IgorPec> yes, i2c
<IgorPec> Heisath: let me scrap if i have more info in the email
<Heisath> yeah I got some of the ports turned on/off. But the girlfriend wasnt motivated to keep pressing the chip to the board for hours :D
<IgorPec> haha
<IgorPec> really?
<IgorPec> you could enable power on / off?
<Heisath> yep
<IgorPec> so our fixing was correct after all :)
<Heisath> mcp23017 datasheet. First need to set register 0x0 and 0x1 to all Zero (to set all pins as output). Then write to 0x12 and 0x13 to set the output pins of MCP
<IgorPec> ok, better to write your findings to the forum later ... i don't have boards here, my friends is doing resoldering, will get them in monday
<IgorPec> now i am trying to push out 2020.05
<Heisath> mvebu is working good with the latest trunk build fyi
<IgorPec> thanks. i am pretty confident now sine i have all boards in the rig
<Heisath> @testing-boards I'll fix the solder tomorrow, then try some more and maybe rig up some script to setup the boards
<IgorPec> doing upgrades, stressing, reboots ... and at least major problems are detected easily
<IgorPec> great! i could even find enough standoffs to assemble one board :) really low on this hw
<Heisath> I dont like the stack concept (I only have boards with bigger form factors)
<Heisath> Next revision should imho have screw terminals for all board power. No messing with these pin things. Also just some cables for I2C and Serial.
<Heisath> sd card is nice the way it is
<IgorPec> yes, let's start to sum those ideas. SD card operations are not yet, right?
<Heisath> nope cant even connect the two boards yet.
<IgorPec> that connection is also trouble
<Heisath> I think seperate boards for power, serial and sd would be best. Power than has +12V in, onboard 5V stepdown, then 8+ screw terminals with 5V, 12V and GND. All controlled via one mcp with i2c.
<Heisath> Serial same as now just extra board, extra mcp and extra i2c address. Same for sd card.
<Heisath> Sure you have 3 I2C devices in the end, but its easier to control and extend.
<IgorPec> that would certainly be more pro grade
<IgorPec> i am certainly open to go that way, but lets wait for others
<Heisath> yeah sure. I also dont have time atm to design all that.
<IgorPec> i think we don't need to rush. this month will be extemly busy for all
<Heisath> in any case we should use these we have now (maybe also one more generation with fixed mosfet) and then do a big list with usecases
<IgorPec> yes - real world use case will also create new ideas

<Heisath> @IgorPec: found the bug. It was not a cold solder. Missing pullup on RESET pin of MCP23017
<HerculeP> he, your skin is approx. 50Kohm ;)
<HerculeP> heh*
<Heisath> that also explain why the plastic clip did not work but the gf did...
<HerculeP> indeed

<IgorPec> hi
<IgorPec> lanefu: around?
<IgorPec> heisath: so we have more things to fix :) ?
<Heisath> Have a look at the forum. It's pretty hard to fix all this with the boards at hand.
<IgorPec> i see. well, we will make new boards
<Heisath> first we have to redo schematics and layout
<Heisath> leaving now, good night/day everyone.
