have there been any reports of the CM10.1 nightlies for the galaxy tab 2 7.0 P3113 not connecting properly when plugged in via usb?
<brandonw>
i've googled a bit and found some other phones/tablets from samsung who encounter the same error in dmesg after plugging the tablet in, and they solved it with flashing a different kernel
MissingNo has quit [Disconnected by services]
<brandonw>
the error i get in dmesg is: usb 1-1.1: unable to get BOS descriptor
<Jiangyi>
There actually hasn't afaik
<Jiangyi>
so what happens when you plug it in?
<brandonw>
basically only what i said
<brandonw>
i plug it in
<brandonw>
it doesnt mount the sdcard via ptp or anything
<brandonw>
doesnt show up on adb devices
<brandonw>
doesnt even establish any kind of usb connection afaik
<brandonw>
it fails and log sto dmesg that it was unable to get BOS descriptor

Can someone give me instructions on how to migrate my bluetooth pairings from a titanium backup from 4.1 into 4.2?
<Consensus>
nebkat?
<brandonw>
interesting. nevermind: it works fine in windows. didn't test adb, but PTP works fine so it probably isn't anything CM related
MissingNo1 has joined #teamhacksung-support
<Consensus>
depressing
hmmwhatsthisdo has joined #teamhacksung-support
<Jiangyi>
brandonw: Could be that you don't have proper drivers?
<brandonw>
didn't realize the usb dev info changed after i flashed CM10.1
<brandonw>
it is now 04e8:685c
<brandonw>
which is not currently set up in my udev/rules.d
<Jiangyi>
Oh, Linux
<brandonw>
oh wait
<brandonw>
nevermind i had the wrong file open
<Jiangyi>
Yeah, MTP doesn't play well with Linux all the time :/
<brandonw>
making too many mistakes
<brandonw>
mtp is actually working fine even in linux now
<brandonw>
forot you cant automount it
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
Does anyone know of a way to get CWM6 onto a GT-P1000?
<brandonw>
you hav eto use an mtp binary instead
<Jiangyi>
I never managed to get it working on Linux Mint
<brandonw>
i'm running arch at the moment, so i just ran mtp-detect and it found it no problem
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
I'm trying to help someone flash CM10 onto their p1000 but the installer uses asserts that aren't available in CWM5 (the only version I can find kernels for)
<brandonw>
ok yeah the usb device info didn't change
<brandonw>
it is the same, and it is correctly set in my udev rules
<brandonw>
PTP and MTP both work, and adb worked before i flashed..
<brandonw>
i'm trying to think if i forgot to do anything. hmm
<brandonw>
probably something obvious
<Jiangyi>
Yeah, it works on Arch great.
<Jiangyi>
hmmwhatsthisdo: Remove the assert from the updater-script?
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
Jiangyi: I had them do that but it'd be nice to not have to jury-rig it
<brandonw>
do i have to explicitly enable adb access on CM?
<Jiangyi>
hmmwhatsthisdo: AFAIK it's a onetime thing, after the CM flash it'll use a CM kernel which will be fine from then on.
<Jiangyi>
The things about devices with recovery baked into the kernel :-P
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
well, right now it's using technomancer's kernel w/ cwm5
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
so, there's no easy way to magically conjure up CWM6 for that device?
<Jiangyi>
brandonw: It's in dev options, which are enabled when you tap on build version 7 times
<brandonw>
wait are you being serious?
<brandonw>
i have to tap on build version 7 times? :P
<brandonw>
build number you mean?
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
brandonw: he's totally being serious
<brandonw>
oh it's a one time thing?
<Jiangyi>
hmmwhatsthisdo: Like I said, since recovery's baked into the kernel, it'll become CWM6 once the latest CM is flashed
<brandonw>
why would it be hidden on an advanced user rom
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
ah
<brandonw>
but available by default on stock
<Jiangyi>
brandonw: No, Google hid it in 4.2 stock
<brandonw>
ohhhh
<brandonw>
well then
<brandonw>
that was my problem ;p
<brandonw>
TIL i guess
<brandonw>
thanks :)
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
uhm... so the user now has CWM 6027
<brandonw>
yep shows up now
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
do they just flash the update zip again?
<Jiangyi>
Flash CM zip, flash gapps, wipe, reboot is the general procedure
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
yeah
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
but, now that the installer flashed CWM 6027, do they re-run it to install CM10?

santhosh: let me guess, trying to flash a rom through CWM?
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
...well it can if you remove the assert, but it's recommended that you use CWM6 instead
<santhosh>
how to flash using heidmall
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
I can walk you through flashing it

santhosh: I know that, I'm making you a tar file you can use with odin
<santhosh>
ya same error
* a3Dman
blames samsung
<singhon>
oo... I see okok thanks
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
a3Dman: it's not samsung's fault - it has to do with the fact that CWM5 doesn't support asserts
<santhosh>
hey
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
santhosh: it's uploading, give me a minute
<a3Dman>
hmmwhatsthisdo: it wasn't about that issue, I just blame samsung on daily basis.
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
oh
<Consensus>
So I present to the group again, is there a way to migrate bluetooth parings from CM 4.1 to 4.2?
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
Consensus: TiBU has an option for it iirc
<Consensus>
hmmwhatsthisdo: I tried that and nothing new showed up
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
then there might have been a change between 4.1 and 4.2
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
probably related to the fact that all of the d2 variants are having troubles with BT audio on 4.2
<Consensus>
thus why I am trying to find out what so I can migrate.
<Consensus>
I have a bluetooth device that does not have a "forget" pairing function and is trying to connect using the old pairing key...
<santhosh>
1 dout
<santhosh>
hey bro
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
...?
<Jiangyi>
hmmwhatsthisdo: CWM5 does support asserts, but the kernel dev probably used improper ones.
<santhosh>
i should keep cm10.1 n gapps on sd r ext sd
<santhosh>
help me
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
santhosh: it doesn't matter - CM's install zip is gigantic, so choose accordingly
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
Jiangyi: every time I've seen someone try to flash CM9/10/10.1 using CWM5 it fails to do so
<santhosh>
didnt gt u
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
santhosh: it doesn't matter whether you put it on the internal sd card or external
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
and stop abbreviating every single word you say, it's hard to read
<Jiangyi>
hmmwhatsthisdo: Well, some devices have had multiple assert changes throughout their lifetime, so that could cause issues.
<Jiangyi>
Flashing to CM with CWM5 on an i9100g works just fine.
<singhon>
can I flash cmw 6 using the phone without odin ?
<hmmwhatsthisdo>
what version of CM?
<hmmwhatsthisdo>

oo ...okok .. thanks ...

<lisfail>
hello! i'm new to android, I've got SGS3 and recently started using CM10.1, before some updated ago I noticed all my old local storage files were moved to a folder name "0", and there is a "new" filesystem or something

<lisfail>
is it normal? why is it?

<frankdrey>
it's disabled on phone, but the storage shit is still there

ohh okay, so I can delete the - "0" folder?

only happens if you have the faulty kernel, an insane chip and doing a wipe.

you have non of those

a3Dman: Ah I thought it will happen on all phones
<frankdrey>
lisfail, if you want to delete all your files

nope, that's why the app you posted the screenshot for it made.
