<yann> I have a freshly-installed 21.02.1 on a nanopim4, with kernel 5.10.12 running, but armbian-config only shows me 5.8.x and 5.9.x kernel sources to download, what's wrong ?
<Werner> tried searching manually for them? apt-cache search linux-source....
<yann> right, it's there - but then whys isn't it shown in armbian-config ?
<Werner> no idea
<yann> ok, thx anyway :)
<yann> it's nice seeing it unpack with a minimal git tree, but I'm surprised to see the patches applied without any git or quilt tracking, am I overlooking something ?
<Werner> Not sure what you mean. You can check the build script to see how the sources are built: https://github.com/armbian/build/blob/d2fe129f3ae9a2cbed125a56db7a399412114a34/lib/compilation.sh#L325
<yann> I realize I had a look at advanced_patch/process_patch_file yesterday, so I should not feel so surprised :D
<yann> what I mean is that using "git am" to apply patches results in a git history, where it is easy to see where a given change comes from, as opposed to having all paches appear as unstructured local modifications
<yann> it makes it easier to just fetch the right collection of patches
<yann> I mean, advanced_patch seems to do some filtering on the list of patches, depending on target/board, so possibly not all the patches in rockchip64-current are applied, so I'll have to go trial-and-error to make sure I'm taking all the correct patches
<yann> is there a simple way to run the "unpack kernel source and patches" step only ? that compile.sh script does so many things :/

<IgorPec> yann: patch handling is not on that advanced level, nor we store history withing kernel source package.
<IgorPec> to goal is to have some control over the patches and apply them in predicted order. nothing more than that

<ArmbianTwitter> @makingislands (Francis Theodore Catte): step 1: find a working microSD card step 1a: that one's bad-- write 'BAD' on it in sharpie. step 1b: this one's bad too. FUCK! step 1c: remember I have a brand new 16GB card still in the packaging next to my 3D printer. step 2: flash an Armbian Buster minimal image https://tinyurl.com/y6ell24w (22s ago)

<[TheBug]> which is what is funny
<[TheBug]> if I remember correctly
<stipa> hmmm
<stipa> i spoke with ex apple engineer
<stipa> [TheBug]: this line has something to do with your tought
<stipa> │22:29:38 Branes | Thunderbolt 3 speeds, up to 120 gigabits/sec
<stipa> i asked for the speed
<stipa> that's
<stipa> maybe even practical 1 GB per sec

<stipa> of USB4
<stipa> and the M1 stays cool
<stipa> to bad the laptop is over 1K $
<stipa> but to be honest i don't need that speed
<stipa> ...
<stipa> :/ :\
* stipa today tried 'barrier' in order to share keyboard and mouse betweene hardware machines.
<nekomancer[m]> isn't barrier term from disk block protocol?
<stipa> idk man
<stipa> barrier by itself is
<stipa> upon synergy
<stipa> nekomancer[m]: like https://symless.com/synergy
<stipa> if you have two computers one by another
<stipa> and each has screen on the table in front of you
<stipa> you don't need to mind fuck
<stipa> using two keyboards and mice
<nekomancer[m]> smart!
<stipa> you can use barrier software
<stipa> it's over lan
<nekomancer[m]> newer hear about
<stipa> me neither
<stipa> heard some windows guy did it and see if there's something on linux
<stipa> and it is
<stipa> neat stuff
<stipa> but
<stipa> it's also mindufkc
<stipa> but it works like charm
<stipa> it's like multi screens
<stipa> behaves like that
<nekomancer[m]> it will have a chance
<stipa> it's fine

<stipa> what than?
<sandelinos[m]> I just updated the kernel on my Orange Pi one and it seems that the drivers for rtl8188 aren't included anymore by default
<stipa> fuck man
<stipa> is tha ethernet nic?
<sandelinos[m]> Was just gonna ask if that's intentional. I'm on my phone so it's kinda hard to go through git
