<ashthespy> Greetings everyone, hope everyone is doing well!
<IgorPec> hej, well, working hard :)
<ashthespy> Haha!
<ashthespy> Have a question about `armbain-ramlog` -- I'm having issues with pi-hole (well lighttpd) and permissions for `/var/log/lighttpd`. From what I understood (https://github.com/armbian/build/pull/1853/commits/523a068650a7a1964ac3646d3174124f49ec666d),
<ashthespy> armbain-ramlog syncs the /var/log to disk periodically, and uses `RecreateLogs` to fill in the blanks correct?
<IgorPec> correct
<IgorPec> logs are recreated in case of failure since some services doesn't recreate them if missing and fails because they are missing
<ashthespy> Gotcha, thanks! :-)
<ashthespy> I also see I messed up the file permissions with my commit from Windows, sorry!
<IgorPec> where?
sunshavi has joined #armbian
<IgorPec> aha, permission issue ... drop windows ;)
<ashthespy> Some of our CAD stuff works only on windows.. :-(
<IgorPec> i have a seprate windows machine ... for playing games :)
<ashthespy> I only have the luxury of one Laptop with Hyper-V + Windows Subsytem for Linux..
<ashthespy> But guess I should move all this dev work over to a server on Hetzner..

<IgorPec> now it should work
<IgorPec> i thought it was just a name change, but it wasn't

<Miouyouyou> Meow. Does anyone still have random crashes (in 2020) with RK3399 boards ?
<IgorPec> probably?
<IgorPec> there has been some reports on forums
<Miouyouyou> Yeah, but they're quite vague. The one linked seems to be basically the NVME driver stuck for... "reasons", and the PCIE engine pulling the trigger like "you know what, I'm done with this shit ! Die !". The error 0xbf000002 printed in the logs is an ARM64 standard error code. Searching for this, I mainly encounter bug reports about NVIDIA ARM64 boards.
<IgorPec> it is possible that the problem is bootloadeer

<Miouyouyou> Hmm... Basically, all the reports seem to converge towards : I had some HDD plugged, did some copies and then the machine freezed... I have spare NVMe drivers... I'll see which board I still have, and if it has an NVMe port.

<IgorPec> possible that its related to nvme / pci implementation. i heard / read this somewhere too
<Miouyouyou> Yeah... Though, I don't know if they were able to do that on some specific kernels without issues, and then switched and it kept crashing. It seems that old ayufan images were working without issues, if I'm reading the reports correctly.
<IgorPec> yes, it seems so.
<IgorPec> i tried few things but didn't narrow it down

<Miouyouyou> The only system I still have in my drawers is a Nano PC T4. I'll try to perform a few copies on an NVMe drive with it, see if that triggers the issue.
<IgorPec> you got any rock64?
<Miouyouyou> I sent one to mayotte... But I don't remember which one... let me check my PM
<Miouyouyou> Wait, what's Rock64 already ? RK3399 or the other one ?
<Miouyouyou> Rockchip namings are confusing
<Miouyouyou> I sent him a RockPro
<Miouyouyou> Which mean I might still have the Orange Pi somewhere
<Miouyouyou> Ah, yeah, got it. The giant Pi
<IgorPec> with sata connector?
<Miouyouyou> Yeah, no NVMe.
<Miouyouyou> Just a PCIe connector.
<Miouyouyou> Where do people buy screens with MIPI connectors ?
<IgorPec> i got one from orangepi and forward to chwe
<Miouyouyou> I'll try to look on Farnell
<Miouyouyou> Meanwhile... Hmm... I'll see if I can trigger the bug on a NanoPi T4

<Miouyouyou> Ok, I just created a Crash Dump thread. I'll see if people gather their logs here. This might be easier.
<IgorPec> jep, just try to keep it in the loop and we'll see what can be found
<Miouyouyou> Alright
<Miouyouyou> I'll check the thread during this week-end. Meanwhile, I'll try to setup my Orange Pi and my Nano T4 back.
<IgorPec> ok
<Miouyouyou> Meanwhile, I'll go to sleep.
<Miouyouyou> Good night everyone !
<IgorPec> :) good i plan to do that as well
