<mayli> hi
<mayli> I just flashed the latest uboot from armbian to my espressobin v5, but now it stuck at "SVC REV: 3, CPU VDD voltage: 0.898V". Did anyone hit similar issue?

<Werner> Good morning
<mayli> Werner: morning
<Werner> mayli: Did you try to use a spare sd card to boot a fresh image?
<mayli> Werner: yeah, actually I just wasted few hours on trying WtpDownload_linux on WSL
<mayli> i've just re-downloaded the uboot rescue over uart, "WtpDownload Complete!"
<mayli> Werner: yeah, but it seems i am stuck at uboot right now, the console shows "WTMI: system early-init" then "SVC REV: 3, CPU VDD voltage: 0.898V" and stuck
<mayli> I think it's either a issue of the uboot image i flashed, or i am using some bad jumper settings
<mayli> Is there a "boot from SDcard" jumper setting any where?
<Werner> Would be important to know if espressobin one or all espressobin image/s have to be considered as broken
<Werner> I have virtually no experience with this board, sorry
<mayli> ok

<Werner> IgorPec, so a proper solution for the bad crc is finally found?
<IgorPec> yes, it looks like
<Werner> Awesome
<IgorPec> compression for image has been changed
<IgorPec> on focal
<IgorPec> but i guess u-boot lz4 decompressor have issues
<IgorPec> buster's default is gzip
<IgorPec> bionic didn't check but i guess the same
<Werner> Probably
<IgorPec> well, someone has idea to speed things up :)
<IgorPec> lz4 decompress is faster
<Werner> Not sure if it is that important if it takes one or two seconds for that part of booting...
<IgorPec> if it doesn't break anything, why not :)
<Werner> Well it did break something :P
<IgorPec> its probably a problem of boot loader
<IgorPec> anyway, i don't care, since it works now
<Werner> We will see if more complains show up. Hopefully not
<IgorPec> yeah, me too. but there is no end of issues in this job :)
<Werner> Lets see if the Github bot stays longer functional now

<hwvrg> Hi. I am back :)
<hwvrg> I am sorry that I did not catch your reply in time IgorPec :)
<hwvrg> Yes, failure happened when trying to upgrade to Focal
<hwvrg> I have alo checked my hardware with H2testw. I do not experience a SD card failure.
<hwvrg> I also got access to the root file system and all logs now since I disassembled the server.
<hwvrg> I have however not sucessfully been able to "unbrick" my system. The section says it is outdated so I am unsure what to do.
<IgorPec> stop for a while
<hwvrg> Sure.
<IgorPec> we fixed the probleb
<IgorPec> problem
<hwvrg> Oh, OK. Thanks, man :)
<IgorPec> it took almost three days for that
<IgorPec> Afther three days you show up and want to get personal support over the line
<hwvrg> Yeah. I can imagine. I am a Java developer and even then it can get very frustrating to track down bugs. Yet I do not have to reflash SDs all the time. So ... just thank you for all the hard work :)
<hwvrg> I am sorry. I just found this channel and was looking for scraps :)
<IgorPec> 24/7 support costs = 1000 x yearly donations
<hwvrg> ^^
<hwvrg> I might not be able to afford that.
<IgorPec> me neither, which is why i can give you tips, use them ... that's it
<hwvrg> Sure. You said you fixed the problem. What fix did you find so I can apply it manually on my system to be able to boot it :)
<IgorPec> see git, read forum
<hwvrg> Okay. Will do.

<Werner> IgorPec, wasn't there a permission in forums that unlocks user if they receive one "like" for a post?
<IgorPec> yes, that should work
<IgorPec> but i didn't test
<IgorPec> one like or one week
<Werner> The issue is I cannot put a like to somebody that actually has this restriction and therefore I cannot "unlock "them with this
<Werner> They are kind a "unlikeable" ^^
<IgorPec> ahaa, got it

<Werner> Spams my syslog. various nanopi, lepotato, bananapi
<IgorPec> strange
<IgorPec> i have no issues ... those are going to be replaced anyway. do you have any issues with 20.05.2 ?
<Werner> Let me follow the syslog for a bit but for now it seems only .1 images are affected
<IgorPec> one is broken for me too, but its going out since rebuild is don

<KenUnix> I have a question. Can the NanoPi R1 run Debian Linux? I have been looking at alternative systems. I have been running Debian on the Beaglebone. The NanoPi R1 looks most promising. Thsnks.
<c0rnelius> Why would it not be able too?
<KenUnix> Noy familiar with NanoPi R1.
<KenUnix> Oh.. Power went off...
<c0rnelius> I've never used it myself, but its got an allwinner h3 SoC. As long as the uboot, kernel and firmware are there it should be good to go.
<KenUnix> Got to go. A.C. powers off.

<gymnodemi> Hi IgorPec, thanks for responding to my post about the renegade half ram issue. It looks like I "have reached the maximum number of posts you can make per day" oddly since today is a new day *shrug* but when I went to fork the repo I noticed the exact patch is there from 7 months ago. I was wondering why it didn't get applied when I was doing my build.
<IgorPec> limit is gone
<IgorPec> you need one liked post ;)
<gymnodemi> Here is the compile command I was using: ./compile.sh BOARD=renegade BRANCH=current RELEASE=buster BUILD_DESKTOP=no KERNEL_ONLY=yes KERNEL_CONFIGURE=no
<gymnodemi> Oh cool thanks!
<IgorPec> where are you adding a patch?
<IgorPec> for renegade ... let me see
<gymnodemi> The patch is already in the build *doh* here build/patch/u-boot/u-boot-rockchip64/board_renegade/size_support_ddr4.patch
<IgorPec> but it doesn't apply ??
<gymnodemi> Correct, or at least it wasn't in my build. I'll do a quick recompile
<IgorPec> ahaa, let me check
<IgorPec> one moment, perhaps it does not apply properly any more
<gymnodemi> It looks like that patch isn't in the u-boot-rockchip64-dev line.
jhcarter has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<IgorPec> copy that patch patch/u-boot/u-boot-rockchip64-dev/board_renegade/size_support_ddr4.patch
<IgorPec> and submit a PR
<gymnodemi> Copy that, will do. I gotta jet to a meeting but I'll be back in a couple of hours
<IgorPec> no rush, you can also reffer to this Jira https://armbian.atlassian.net/browse/AR-299
<IgorPec> there is more work to be done, but that should be rather done by rockchip maintainers
