<Werner>
Besides meson there is only .sunxi atm.
<ArmbianHelper>
sunxi/sunxi64, board family of Allwinner 32/64bit SoCs like for 32bit the A20, A83T, H2+, H3, R40 or V3 SoC or for 64bit the A64, H5 or H6 SoC. For a complete overview check out https://linux-sunxi.org/Allwinner_SoC_Family.
<Werner>
Hm I think we have some kind a regression on sunxi or H3 at least...
<IgorPec>
in what sense?
<Werner>
It throws two stack traces at boot when calling sun9i-h3-oinctrl and usb-storage
<archetech>
im burning an .img of a build do I use dos or gpt type on sdcard?
<IgorPec>
with that?
<Werner>
The partition table is overwritten when writing the image so does not matter.
<archetech>
ok
<Werner>
REPOSITORY_INSTALL="" will take .debs from the output/debs folder if available, right?
<IgorPec>
from apt.armbian.com
<IgorPec>
if empty, yes
<IgorPec>
then from local storage
<Werner>
I want to use local storage
<Werner>
If not available build it
<IgorPec>
then don't use this switch

build if not avaliable is realted with CLEAN switch
<IgorPec>
if you clean debs it will always rebuild, else use if present

<Werner>
So adjust clean level
<IgorPec>
yep
<Werner>
So if there are kernel packages for board X are available in output/debs then with REPOSITORY_INSTALL="" CLEAN_LEVEL=make the image should be built with those instead of compiling them again, right?

<lanefu>
very cool... what are you going to do with all that precision?
<xwigg>
keeping time when internets is unavailable
<lanefu>
yeah i've always wanted to get a rtc with a gps reciever
<lanefu>
it would be nice if my ntp server at home was backed by a RTC
<xwigg>
that's also cool, but battery backed rtc is only $1
<lanefu>
i assume much less drift overall
<xwigg>
my router is the ntp server, pretty stable
<lanefu>
yeah same here
<lanefu>
i upgraded to a ubiquit ER-6P and its delightfully overkill
<xwigg>
hehe, I've a fritzbox from ISP, easy interface and stable
<lanefu>
wow.. its nice to have an ISP provide somethign decent
<lanefu>
i finally managed to switch to a pure ethernet handoff so i'm super happy now
<xwigg>
I got fiber as soon as I took over apartment of old colleague
<xwigg>
The fritzbox wasn't sufficient for him, he got 500/500 fiber
<lanefu>
lol
<lanefu>
yeah i've got "gigabit" which is more like 150-200 in practical terms
<xwigg>
I had 100/100 but moved to 50/50
<lanefu>
yeah honestly i had like 50/50.. and was getting like 60-75 on it.. had no way whatsover to justify gettin gigabit in practical terms
<lanefu>
then i just said "i'm a nerd and this is what i do" and boom
<lanefu>
i _really_ like the fast upload tho
<lanefu>
especially for sharing armbian images n stuff

I had 45/10, upgraded to 100/20. It's copper, and dedicated, so I *always* get the rated bandwidth
<tonymac32>
There's no fiber up here, waaayyyy too far from the city
<tonymac32>
The cable company (so coax) isn't know for being very reliable, and shared "peak bandwidth"

i'll rework this a bit and disable per family
<IgorPec>
probably h3, a10, a20 are fine
<lanefu>
Ahhhh
<IgorPec>
we can't put out this unstable desktop
<IgorPec>
:)
<archetech>
before moving to install KDE on this N2+ focal I want to get the dtb -overlay right for OC speeds once thats stable
<archetech>
then add latest mesa-git bifrost-panfrost drv then qt5 and plasma
<archetech>
be nice to have a dev w/ aN2+ I suppose
<archetech>
maybe start looking at odroids custom focal for all that
<archetech>
I predict some desire for the above here once peeps show up with their shiny new N2+'s
<archetech>
I know manjaro isnt there yet with it
<ArmbianTwitter>
@Superna9999 (Neil Armstrong): @lanefu @armbian @thepine64 Sorry to disappoint you but it works on Amlogic SoCs with vanilla mainline up to 4k60, the latter is not available yet on allwinner or rockchip SoCs: https://t.co/Fz72KTpZ0i but my @LibreELEC friends are working on this ! (17s ago)
<Miouyouyou>
The MESA panfrost driver isn't that hard to compile. Just a little slow... and you have to get all the build dependencies, which can be a bit of a pain, even in 2020.
<ArmbianTwitter>
@lanefu (Lane Jennison): @Superna9999 @armbian @thepine64 @LibreELEC Hmm. with our kernel 5.7 with amlogic patches (le potato, N2), kernel mode setting will detect and run my display at 2160p, but unable to set any other resolutions. I tried edid directly via kms_helper and manual entries via xrandr. I can force 1080p at boot, but not 1440p (18s ago)
<ArmbianTwitter>
@Superna9999 (Neil Armstrong): @lanefu @armbian @thepine64 @LibreELEC 2160p is 4K, I never had reports mode settings wasn’t working, what patch did you need ? (27s ago)
<ArmbianTwitter>
@lanefu (Lane Jennison): @Superna9999 @armbian @thepine64 @LibreELEC My goal is 1440p. I tried to dig into the drm driver to see if there was a missing mode definition but was in over my head 😬 (31s ago)
* lanefu
crossing fingers for 1440p help 😍
<archetech>
1440p takes alot of memory may be the issue
<lanefu>
more memory than 2160p?
<lanefu>
i can do 2160p and 1080p on my amlogic boards just not 1440p :P
<lanefu>
with amlogic its whateveer resolution i set / get at boot time.... with allwinner i have full control and see displayed in my lovely screenshot
<archetech>
odd to get 4k and no 2k
<lanefu>
quite
<archetech>
does xrandr list 1440p from the edid?
<lanefu>
nope.. well
<lanefu>
yes, but with zero clock
<lanefu>
and ive forced feed the edid reading from my monitor, ive hand typed the modelines
<lanefu>
bitches about clock shit
<archetech>
ill try it on mine after majaro kde install
<archetech>
not that willhelp that board
<lanefu>
:P
<buZz>
ooo lanefu , you're retro computing now :D
<buZz>
build your own modelines \o
<lanefu>
haha yeah no kidding
<archetech>
or get a diff edid
<buZz>
cant you edit edidfiles?
<lanefu>
the edid is good
<lanefu>
i can take the one detected from allwinner chip
<lanefu>
and feed it to amlogic
<buZz>
ah
<buZz>
do you think its a fault of the amlogic?
<lanefu>
i think both the rockchip and amlogic drm drivers lack some maturity compared to the sunxi
<lanefu>
actually rockchip doeesent even detect the 2160p most of the time
<lanefu>
allwinner does that
<lanefu>
i mean amlogic
<nekomancer[m]>
why not just take edid from display?
<buZz>
the drm driver fails to do so
<lanefu>
i did take edid from display
<lanefu>
and i even it back into drm_kms_helper thing
<lanefu>
i have done all the things
