I'm following the guide at http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_i9100 and after the "heimdall flash --kernel zImage --no-reboot" the kernel uploads, but on reboot I get an exclamtion mark, and then the device just seems to shut down

<Bert__>
Check the readme, factory reset. On XDA Developer there is a remove triangle app. (free on XDA)
<knix>
avar: try again
<knix>
I've found I have to flash a few times for it to take
<knix>
But you also might simply need to wait logner
<avar>
The guide is somewhat ambiguous on what you're supposed to do after you flash with heimdall. "The device will not reboot, rather will wait for you to reboot it to give enough time to enter recovery with the button combination."
<avar>
Does this mean you should reboot directly into recovery mode again and use adb on that, or do a normal boot?
<frankdrey>
avar, you should have copied the file earlier
<frankdrey>
the guides should be re-written for that
<frankdrey>
but yeah, you can use adb now in recovery
<frankdrey>
normal boot will erase CWM
koegs has joined #teamhacksung-support

I see, so the --no-reboot option is so you can *again* enter recovery mode without it erasing the new recovery image

I know them inside out
<Jiangyi>
system404: frankdrey can help you.
<system404>
Jiangyi: the xda tutorial doesnt mention that you must enable USB debugging
* Jiangyi
needs to go do work
<system404>
frankdrey: its cool i got it thanks well i think so gonna try it again now if i have any issues though can i give u a shout
<frankdrey>
system404, that won't help :/
<frankdrey>
at least, it shouldn't make a difference
<Jiangyi>
system404: Umm... Because you don't need to do that?
<frankdrey>
are you trying to simply root? or install CM?
kwivi has quit [Quit: Page closed]
<system404>
frankdrey: well from what im reading i need to install CWM then root eother way i want both as im wanting to install CM10.1 on it
sud3n has quit [Ping timeout: 252 seconds]
<frankdrey>
no
<frankdrey>
ok, first of all, you know you will need to wipe data?
* frankdrey
tries to warn everyone :p
<system404>
frankdrey: yeah yeah thats fine its a brand new device literaly out the box
<frankdrey>
great
<frankdrey>
ok, so download the latest zip at get.cm/?device=p5110
<frankdrey>
and the latest gapps from goo.im/gapps
<frankdrey>
system404, no, you need heimdall for this
<obiwahn>
i9100
<frankdrey>
unless you want to convert the img to odin format
<obiwahn>
my device does not get into recovery mode
<frankdrey>
obiwahn, dunno really, the reason I want system404 to use heimdall is to have the latest CWM, which is in img format
Schorfi has quit [Quit: gna]
<obiwahn>
i need a kernel other than the one sugged in the wiki
<obiwahn>
or some odin version
<frankdrey>
yeah, i don't know anything about i9100 kernels
<obiwahn>
so i can flash the I9100XWLPD_I9100OXELP7_MBC.zip
<obiwahn>
how expensive is it to send the phone to samsung?
<frankdrey>
system404, you'll need to get a command prompt and cd into the folder with heimdall
<system404>
frankdrey: thanks anyway but i found a cf-root option that roots and installs CWM just like i did on my s3 so im now rooted and cwm installed time to start loading CM 10.1 happy days :))
<frankdrey>
and put the recovery img in the same folder
<Jiangyi>
obiwahn: Yes, you should get a .tar.md5 file
<Jiangyi>
Throw that into PDA and flash away.
<obiwahn>
whish me some luck:)

hi i've got a problem.... I've got CM10.1 and everything worked fine for me, until i accidently mounted or dismounted something in CWM... now I cant login to google PlayStore and all my contact are gone... Any idea what i can do? I cant even add a google Account insettings
sud3n has joined #teamhacksung-support
<obiwahn>
so how do i continue to once i have installed the image?
<obiwahn>
i had success with the cf kernel
<obiwahn>
Jiangyi: is it safe to use mobile odin to flash cm?
<Jiangyi>
obiwahn: Well, you can't, since CM's in a CWM-flashable zip format
<obiwahn>
so i need to install clockworkmode
<obiwahn>
i think i have had that one
<obiwahn>
ones
<obiwahn>
it requires a fitting kernel?
<obiwahn>
yeahy it is alive
<obiwahn>
i think i install the cf kernel again
<obiwahn>
and restore one of my backups
<Jiangyi>
Sure. Just be careful of brickbug.

<obiwahn>
Jiangyi: the cfkernel is a near stock kernel afaik
<obiwahn>
so that might be not that good
<obiwahn>
brobably chainfire fixed it
<obiwahn>
probably
<obiwahn>
Jiangyi: which kernel would you install for cwm?
<obiwahn>
maybe i should do it using windows
<Jiangyi>
Doesn't cody have an official one?
<obiwahn>
oh my userdata semm to be still around

<obiwahn>

<obiwahn>
i do not get past the login screen
<obiwahn>
unfortuatley software update has stopped ...
<obiwahn>

obiwahn: what are you doing?
<obiwahn>
must the gt-i9100...tar be extracted?
<codeworkx>
what did you download?
<obiwahn>
i deperate to get my telephone back to life
<obiwahn>
i am on the wiki page
<obiwahn>
and just got the cmw kernel
<obiwahn>
last time i extracted it using linux
<codeworkx>
flash with odin or extract and flash with heimdall
<obiwahn>
so that the palin zimage was in the path
<obiwahn>
now i use windows and no tar is availabe
<obiwahn>
and i wonder if the tar is supposed to be extracted as tar seems ab it uncommon for windows
<obiwahn>
when i give a bz2 to friends they tell i have compressed the files twice:)
<obiwahn>
now i can not get in download ot recovery mode
<codeworkx>
download mode works always
<codeworkx>
battery out, battery in, volume down + home + power
<obiwahn>
what is the difference between the two?
<obiwahn>
and how long must i press the keys?
<codeworkx>
till the screen turns on

Howdy! I have a S3 that appears to be in some nasty state due to a string of bad flashes. I'm trying to return it to a stock PIT/ROM/MODEM etc configuration. By flashing CyanogenMod will that happen?
<codeworkx>
no
<nickhs>
or is the only solution through Odin? (and is there an OSX variant available)
<codeworkx>
heimdall
<Bert__>
NNickhs no. You need to Odin-ify the thing

codeworkx: has anyone put their hand up for supporting i9305 yet?
<codeworkx>
snadge: no
<snadge>
i noticed you haven't posted a build for that device since the 5th
<codeworkx>
snadge: lemme do one
<snadge>
so last night i synced the source.. did a build of cm_i9305-eng
<snadge>
i think thats right .. i dont know.. eng build seems to do the flashing red border thing (which i forget how to fix, its a setting)
<snadge>
and bluetooth seems to have borked
<snadge>
im wondering if thats because i'm doing it wrong..or something in the past 10 days has broken bluetooth
<nickhs>
Anyone know where to find the stock 16GB GT-i9300 (international) PIT file?
<snadge>
codeworkx: i might add you've done pretty well for someone who doesn't have an i9305 :P
<jethro>
codeworkx: remember me complaining tethering didn't work on my phone ? if I remove all iptables rules and add a simple masquerading one, tethering works oO
<codeworkx>
jethro: which device?
<jethro>
i9100
<snadge>
codeworkx: do you think maybe i've missed some props needed for bt? its not something i've had to look into try and fix before
<jethro>
codeworkx: I'd guess it's the PREROUTING table, operations on it other than iptables -F complained about too many links
Anthony1s{-_-} has quit [Ping timeout: 248 seconds]
<jethro>
or maybe it's natctrl_nat_POSTROUTING masquerading through the wrong rmnet interface
<jethro>
I get a default route on rmnet0 and natctrl_nat_POSTROUTING references rmnet1

Cloning the stock rom to the 2nd rom and booting that worked, but like with the CM custom recovery image when the phone boots the display doesn't turn on.
