TRS-80 I've dug into the U-boot customization and while I haven't quite verified a working solution for my LCD problem, I learned a few things that you may or may not know

<IgorPec>
good morning
<lanefu>
Morning
<IgorPec>
hej, pbp night ?:)

Ha. I actually think i probably went to sleep early in victory. Dogs woke me up

<lp0-on-fire>
morning peeps
<IgorPec>
i was also up late, until 2am, and waked at 8am
<lp0-on-fire>
say, does someone here knows how to handle crosscompiling a program that can use a perl interpreter ? Is it true that miniperl is the program you should use as a perl with crosscompile support ?
<IgorPec>
hey lp0
<lp0-on-fire>
trying to cross compile irssi x)
<lp0-on-fire>
buildroot apparently decided to not bother with miniperl, and they use some kind of hack called cross-perl to build it… Which makes it stupidly way harder to even do irssi from git master despite them using meson
<lp0-on-fire>
needless to say I'm having a rough time. I know neither meson or perl :D

<lp0-on-fire>
ah even more fun I just learned miniperl requires ssh to "cross compile"
<lp0-on-fire>
lol
<lp0-on-fire>
point taken, now I get why buildroot chose perl-cross
<lp0-on-fire>
well, okay then… since irssi won't work out, wth should I do with this board lol
<stipa>
lp0-on-fire: try BitchX
<stipa>
there is a channel if you need help here on freenode #BitchX
<stipa>
lanefu: it was popular way back, together with irssi
<lanefu>
true
<lanefu>
yeah it was my goto
<lanefu>
i had used it again recentlywhen the armbian irc channel had a revival but then i discoverd weechat
raver has quit [Remote host closed the connection]
<lp0-on-fire>
huh huh last update in 2014…
<lp0-on-fire>
or well last release
<lanefu>
yeah sounds about right
<lanefu>
weechat is pretty cool... i leave it running, and can conncet to it with an android client, and i have a plugin that lets me connect to slack as well
<lp0-on-fire>
what does it use as scripting anyway ?
<lanefu>
its super plugably... so python and perl
<lp0-on-fire>
heh, weechat for blind user is really, really confusing, the ui is extremely weird
<lanefu>
ohhh
<lp0-on-fire>
in irssi I typically disable the status bar except the act element :D
<lanefu>
BitchX is bascially like the old-school irc client iwth all the things you would usually add on, compiled in
<lanefu>
do you use a different termcap / TERM= setting for a blind user to force apps to work better
<lanefu>
like oldschool tty basically
<lp0-on-fire>
well I added a script for self message support in irssi, another for getting typing notices in bitlbee via ctcp
<lp0-on-fire>
and a couple others, one to make different sounds using sox for public messages, hilight, pm, etc
<lp0-on-fire>
well, I usually stick to pure tty / screen so $term is generally linux or screen.linux
<lp0-on-fire>
also the bigger the tty the better
<lp0-on-fire>
mine's 170x48 rn
<lp0-on-fire>
also screeen readers tend to dislike apps in ncurses with more than a single row
<lp0-on-fire>
that's why things like menuconfig work good, but something like armbian config chokes it
<lp0-on-fire>
they don't know what collumn to keep track of
<lanefu>
yeah.. i think armbian-config would have to be strongly refactored
<lanefu>
PRs welcome :P
<lp0-on-fire>
so they keep track of them all… which can be extremely confusing
<lp0-on-fire>
you also have to disable the stuff in vim and nano that allows to show cursor position
<lp0-on-fire>
otherwise every time you type a character you'll hear the number of the column you're on lol
<lp0-on-fire>
2, 3, 4, 5, aaaargh
<lanefu>
doh
<lanefu>
so are you blind?
<lp0-on-fire>
aye
<lanefu>
helps to put a "face" to the users impacted
<lp0-on-fire>
;)
<lp0-on-fire>
hope my face is nice to look at. Hehe

<lanefu>
currently its on fire
<lp0-on-fire>
:D
<lanefu>
anyway so maybe we can look at the armbian-config situation another way, which is to identify the most useful features and tackle them
<lanefu>
If I were to create a github issue, would you be willing to comment on the things that would be a priority?
<lp0-on-fire>
I like this alt nick so I decided to use it a bit before freenode staff clean it in their next spring cleaning or whatever
<lp0-on-fire>
hmmm well I could try
<lp0-on-fire>
it's a bit difficult sometimes to express accessibility problems in a way that everyone can understand

@guidol70 (Guido Lehwalder): @joeylorich @Windows for me the output of the windows-terminal doest work with my armbian-devices, I cant setup this json-config file to show the terminal I like and I dont know how to set it up as serial terminal for TTL-serial-devices. I normally used puTTY, but now I use the fork kiTTY. (3s ago)

chartsrv is a dead-simple web application which runs Prometheus queries and charts the result as an SVG. You make a dashboard by putting a lot of these images into a web page. You make it refresh by adding <meta id="refresh" http-equiv="refresh" content="5"> to the header. Ta-da! https://sr.ht/~sircmpwn/chartsrv/
