<forest[m]> hello
<forest[m]> I am running Armbian on Odroid XU4 -- I built the armbian image myself with a few packages I wanted pre-installed (like docker, python stuff, docker-compose, ansible)
<forest[m]> Armbian_20.11.0-trunk_Odroidxu4_buster_current_5.4.72_minimal
<forest[m]> thats the name of the image file it generated
<forest[m]> I'm having trouble with teh system clock
<forest[m]> the system clock is very wrong when I boot the odroid. I think it might be set to the time when the image was baked.
<archetech> do you have a battery on it?
<forest[m]> a couple times in the past I have been able to get it to start and run for at least few seconds and then when I run `timedatectl --no-pager --adjust-system-clock --monitor set-ntp true` it DID set the system clock correctly
<forest[m]> however I have yet to get this to work reliably in a script
<forest[m]> > do you have a battery on it?
<forest[m]> I don't know. I bought it from Ameridroid and I didn't add or remove any battery
<forest[m]> I don't know what you mean. Do you mean a CMOS battery ?
<fromport> can't you use systemd ? cat 'NTP=[hostname.ntp.server]' >> /etc/systemd/timesyncd.conf ; timedatectl set-ntp true
<forest[m]> I am not expecting the system clock to be correct when the machine is turned on -- I am just trying to figure out how I can get it to correctly set the clock via NTP once it's connected to the internet
<forest[m]> I tried that
<forest[m]> in the past if I run `timedatectl set-ntp true` before chronyd is running, then it would return exit code 130
<forest[m]> * Thanks, I just tried it
<forest[m]> do I have to restart timedatectl after I change that config file or something ?

<TRS-80> bah, by a nose
<tmaurice> ah nice

<tmaurice> i should have seen that sory for the noise
<Werner> no worries

<TRS-80> And docs, etc...
<tmaurice> no worries
<tmaurice> cheers you guys are the best fucking community ever omg
<TRS-80> IRC being also relatively newer thing for the project (officially, anyway)
<TRS-80> Cheers!
<tmaurice> B.c. my seedbox is an ubuntu machine
<fromport> any idea why i can not download the zip file with the torrents?
<tmaurice> si i need an actual torrent list

<tmaurice> hold my crack pipe

<fromport> ls -l *rrent | wc -l -> 584 amai.... that is a bit much
<tmaurice> k i might be retarded but @Werner do cou have a link to the list of images ? I could not find it
<Werner> Keep in mind this zip is updated regularly. That is why it is recommended to use the given script that will take care of removeing outdated torrents and add new ones

<Werner> 273GB is the whole seed atm

<fromport> irony that it has many images for many setups, but the script is just for one forced torrent client ;-)
<[TheBug]> fromport: looks to have resolved on my side, can you still not reach dl.armbian.com via ipv6 at all?

<[TheBug]> hmm
<[TheBug]> you should at least leave your local network
<fromport> i am on spectrum
<[TheBug]> can you ping other ipv6 ips/addresses?
<Werner> fromport you are not forced to use transmission or the script. You can use any client you want but you have to come up with an own solution to frequently update your torrent list
<fromport> yep, like i said: i get 10/10 tests positive on test-ipv6.com
<fromport> Your IPv6 address on the public Internet appears to be 2603:8000:fe42:98dc:8cff:b0ff:fe07:bf38 Your Internet Service Provider (ISP) appears to be TWC-20001-PACWEST

<IgorPec> raw yes
<stipa> ok
<IgorPec> also one usable hint - if you are downloaind commits ... add .patch on the end
<IgorPec> and you get a patch
<stipa> ok, thanks for the tip
<stipa> patch: **** Only garbage was found in the patch input.
<stipa> well, that's correct :D
<stipa> i'm not there yet
<stipa> don't even know what that means
<stipa> i'll have to register on the github
<IgorPec> ahaa

<TRS-80> stipa: Patches can be downloaded, repos cloned, etc. without needing any account. Account only needed to comment, create issue, submit PR, etc.
<ArmbianTwitter> @armbian (armbian): @m_adduci @Fox0x01 People usually installs @OpenMediaVault on top of #armbian also with #ZFS support. Or just #armbian with Samba or NFS shares. (7s ago)

<stipa> man, patching is something to think about.
<stipa> who much is allowed to modify the source to get things going?
<TRS-80> the only limit is breakage, go nuts ;)
<stipa> i tought so
<TRS-80> on your own machines, anyway; Armbian have some perhaps slightly higher standards :D
<TRS-80> Since you seem to just have some revalation about the power of patches, maybe you did not realize that this is inherently de-centralized workflow. As it can be done by email. Many big projects are still done this way (including Linux kernel itself!), no need for any centralized authority inserting themselves as middleman. Which is my main criticism of GitHub (see also

<stipa> they paid to jon?
<stipa> join*
<stipa> it's murky
<stipa> someone is protecting himself
<stipa> probably Linus
<stipa> i'm seeing this trend everywhere, some people play nice and good, build their popularity using people, and then sell it to big company.
