@seeteegee (Chris McGee): The @thepine64 #pinecube is booting with the default armbian. You'll need a UART serial cable to initialize it though. Luckily, I had just purchased the serial cable for the pinephone and had a 3.5mm jack adapter and some bread board cables on hand. It worked nicely. https://tinyurl.com/yfrtekjo (2s ago)

<mangix>
anyone with a helios4 experience memory issues?
<mangix>
which is weird given that 2GB are available and only half is used.
yang_ is now known as yang
<Werner>
maybe due to zram?
<mangix>
what is this zram?
<mangix>
sounds like something I want to disable
<Werner>
By default in Armbian half of the available memory is used as compressed swap file
<mangix>
OK I definitely want to disable that
<Werner>
You should this disable only if you have other space available you can use as swap file, no sd card obviously
<Werner>
systemctl disable armbian-zram-config and reboot. Keep in mind doing this is not supported
<mangix>
I use btrfs in RAID5. I live dangerously.
<HerculeP>
w/o swap it will freeze w/o warning eg on compileing or browsing /w many open tabs
<HerculeP>
compiling*
<mangix>
HerculeP: this is a 2GB device without a display
<HerculeP>
oh, I C
<mangix>
I'm compiling a C++ program right now. Memory usage is not that high.

Oh yeah, I have the Helios with Kobol enclosure installed to eMMC, and I also have the zram disabled just so I can capture persistent logs. I enabled persistence on journald. No memory or performance issues here!

@TolyanBotan (Tolyan Botan): @MayaPosch @_Thaodan Armbian, Android... Therevare still legacy devices with 3.*, try to find a good C++14 compiler for them all. https://tinyurl.com/yh5b6ll3 (19s ago)
<IgorPec>
martinayotte finally! :)
<IgorPec>
this pinebook lcd also added two gray hair :)
prefixcactus has quit [Ping timeout: 244 seconds]

IgorPec: Thanks, but thanks also megous ...
<martinayotte>
BTW, doing a full new build reveal that "patch-5.11.3-4.patch" and cies are producing duplicates errors since megous branch is already at 5.11.6
<Werner>
Then we need to remove those patches again
<martinayotte>
Werner: Right ! if no one do it, I will do ...
<Werner>
Sure, go ahead
<martinayotte>
At the end of my full build, I got the following error :
<martinayotte>
Exception: [BtPostDownloadHandler.cc:99] errorCode=25 Could not parse BitTorrent metainfo
<martinayotte>
md5sum: /home/martin/git-work/igorpecovnik-armbian/build/cache/rootfs/buster-xfce-arm64.399fde02abf35e9dda57f02010ff74ca.tar.lz4.asc: no properly formatted MD5 checksum lines found
<IgorPec>
rootfs troubles
<IgorPec>
hmm
<IgorPec>
try to remove rootfs cache and try again, also try to build with USE_TORRENT="no"
Xogium has quit [Quit: Leaving.]

<martinayotte>
IgorPec, removing only rootfs didn't help. Now, I'm trying with USE_TORRENT="no" ...
<martinayotte>
IgorPec: still having the same error ... I will try bullseye instead of buster ...
<martinayotte>
IgorPec: same error with bullseye ... This mean a bug been uploaded since I did a "git pull" earlier today ...
<martinayotte>
My last successful desktop build were done on March 1st.

<IgorPec>
martinayotte: i need to dive in. it works here for me, but i build on hirsute host. perhaps that's why
<IgorPec>
also some desktop builds have issues
<IgorPec>
i know pinebook pro breaks, but didn't know for pinebook a64

myy is working on those problems

<martinayotte>
IgorPec, I'm not fluent with packaging, so I can't help much, even if I wish. What I see in the cleaned rootfs folder, is that, for example,the file bullseye-xfce-arm64.18435035346dd55441191f38a09aa0e2.tar.lz4 is the same size as bullseye-xfce-arm64.18435035346dd55441191f38a09aa0e2.tar.lz4.asc, which is 821 bytes.
<martinayotte>
IgorPec: So, I presume the download itself failed, because the bullseye-xfce-arm64.18435035346dd55441191f38a09aa0e2.tar.lz4 file should be bigger, or it is downloaded properly, but suddenly overwritten by a copy of the .asc ...
<martinayotte>
I've just now started a hirsute build ... we will see ...
<IgorPec>
hirsute only works on hirsute
<IgorPec>
you can't assemble image on focal, it breaks, qemu bug
RzR has quit [Ping timeout: 256 seconds]
<martinayotte>
IgorPec: Oh ! I didn't know, my x86 is Focal. Anyway, the result of this build is the same : both tar.lz4 and tar.lz4.asc are also 821 bytes.
